RE: New Suzuki Jimny leaked

I think it looks brilliant too. Surprised by how postive the PH response has been too, nearly all like the design. It looks masculine yet small.
I was close to buying a Jimny when I lived in Japan as I enjoyed exploring abandoned places there (Haikyo they call them, like the 28days forum here). I saw a convoy of 4 of them out in the sticks once when I was out exploring, they looked to be having fun, and being small they could enjoy different paths to the more obvious large off roaders we use over here.

those saying G-wagen obviosuly never sw 2nd gen of Jimny (also called Samirai on some markets). Looks like this includes the author of the artcile
Definite family resemblance to the SJ413 / Samurai (aka Sierra too I think) as well as the Jimny.
I wanted to buy my nana's old SJ413 off her when I was a teenager but she went and traded it on a Honda Jazz instead... a sad day.

As others have commented: absolutely no need for a compact 4x4, but still find this way too interesting . Suzuki has a very neat little range at the moment.
Part of the appeal for me is that thing just looks 'honest', in keeping with the purpose. Rugged little thing, styling function derived, likely good construction (for the price), looks and tech will age well. And the 1.0 'Boosterjet' is a pretty decent little mill. Recent Suzukis also seem to be surprisingly light weight, this will likely be no exception.

Very much a case of don’t copy the Germans and try do something different. I approve. Can't wait to collect my new (to me) Swift Sport today. I had a Jimmy a few years ago, proper farmer's spec in dark green with steel wheels. Great little car.
