The CL has passed the MoT with another scrape through the emissions side. A bittersweet victory as the headlamp wipers are now stuck in the wrong position and the parking sensors have packed up since going in this morning.

I may have a new (to me) thread-appropriate barge coming my way this weekend.

Excellent stuff JR

I am very interested in a barge and have had a positive message from the vendor. Have to wait until late Weds though as the auction is running to the end. Since I have only won one auction in years of eBay I am not holding my breath.

I'm not sure how long a thread volume lasts but I anticipate selling the Lexus LS 430 and buying a new car tax free within the next 6 months or so.

It'll probably be a Volvo. Or a Mercedes. Or a BMW. Or maybe an F-Type. But most likely a Volvo. (The new 60 looks good - any thoughts?)

I feel as though I'm about to let the thread-massive down.
When are you thinking of selling, I bought a Mini Cooper S, a LR Freelander, both are great fun but neither waft, the LR is relatively comfortable but the mini is not.

ETA; therefore I need a barge too.
I'm going to sell it as soon as I can, certainly within the next month. The EML light came on a couple of weeks ago, so I need to get that checked but the consensus seems to be an O2 sensor. I'm going to bring the SLC out to Lux for the summer, and then over-winter it in my nice warm underground garage, and I think I'll now buy a new car to make use of the concession.

The LS is being used this weekend for another cross-Continental dash to pick up an enormous quantity of household goods and then its job is pretty much done.

I'm pretty sure you'll move the LS on quickly via this thread. Lovely colours.

Can’t see this hanging around for very long at under a grand.

A full house of MOT passes too. Last of the good, cheap ones?

Another one checking in.

The big lexus continues to impress. Had to cross central London peak time sat night and then up the M1 for a bit before coming straight back. Couldn’t think of a worse way of spending the evening but the 430 made it surprisingly tolerable.

Worryingly I took my own car out (AMG) on Sunday for the first time since I bought the LS and it was as relaxing to drive as a punch in the face.

It’s funny how quickly you acclimatise to your daily driver, either that or I’m getting old....

So why is it at most third of the price of the others on Autotrader? Trader, so surely must have checked the market rate? confused

On the bestest wheels, as well.

Rear end looks a touch low. (Could be camera angle, sports s'pension, big wheels, none of the above, of course!)

Definitely thread worthy! Also glad someone else seems to use Facebook for browsing cars. I do this, and sometimes come across interesting things that don’t get listed on AT etc. Haven’t bought anything off it myself though, so fair play for doing so. Lovely motor, all the best with it.

Vol 12 was 9 months.

I've already let the thread down by buying a new Skoda. Won't arrive until Christmas though so the S211 has to do another caravan pull through France next month before we tidy and sell it on.
I'm a long-time semi-lurker, but a barge admirer nonetheless and I've also just bought (leased) a brand new car, albeit it's a kind-of-barge in the form of a Volvo V60. It's petrol, automatic, and it has outstanding seats, brilliant stereo with DAB (6Music is great)...

I spent ages looking for a 1-5k barge. Endlessly looking at adverts, several viewings... but I kept finding myself in the Best Lease thread boxedin The idea of trouble free motoring appealed greatly. And it was cheap enough that it won me over.

Got to say I'm loving it so far.

I'd like to hear more about this and perhaps see some pics as I'm considering one of these. Do you have a thread running? A short precis of views posted here won't be inappropriate - we love the occasional off-piste foray.

My Dad was asking what I was doing... it’s for people on the internet, you won’t understand biggrin

First 100 mile trip was good, amazingly good history and recept book. Don’t want to jinx it but can’t fault it and nice to have a car I always fancied when I was younger

Analogue TV, multiple ashtrays, glovebox torch and wired mobile remind me how futuristic my other car is (Nissan Leaf!)

You’ve got me paranoid now lol! It does sit lower than others I’ve seen but not sure if that’s the wheels or not. It’ll be having a visit to a specialist next week to give the list of hidden problems no doubt biggrin

It's a strange thing that, I rather drive my new'ish VW up which is as far away from a barge as you can get, but compared to my M5 (e39) it's alot less work just to drive. The M5 is somewhat of an event, it's loud, stiff and rowdy. I AM getting old wink

Dare I inquire what 'cheap' is in this case? Looks good
