Fiver says an electric car beats it in the next ten years
This was my first thought, although I don't think you'd have to wait anything like 10 years for it.This is far from a production car. They removed all aerodynamic downforce aids, stripped the interior, added more horsepower, used a special front bumper and added a laser guided ride height system! It’s no more a production car than this...

in the UK... now think about other places where there are unrestricted limits.
I don't think the German police would think much of you doing 300mph on the autobahn either. ![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)

More to the point - whats the fuel consumption at that speed. Didn't Clarkson test a car that would only do 20 mins flat out
Mercedes McLaren SLR if I remember correctlyGameface said:

I think you're missing the point! ![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
The Bugatti Chiron can consume its entire 100-litre fuel tank in under seven minutes.

so not long to get the speed recorded?

The problem that I have with the likes of Hennesey and alike is that their "production car" definition could be summarised as a one off special built for the speed record, which they'll then include into a brochure as being available, and which no one will probably ever buy. Then if someone does buy one, it'll be so bespoke and personalised to the buyer's desires, that it'll fall short of the record braking "mule", and most likely end up in an air conditioned garage somewhere, and rarely (if ever) used.https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1122276_modifi...
If Bugatti release a special with matching aero, tyres, and engine power, then that's a million miles closer to a "production car" in my opinion, irrespective of whether a few kg of mass is present in the "real" car.

Impressive in as much as it did it on 'only' 1,500 horsepower and in something you could notionally drive to the shops... but Sir Malcolm Campbell did the the same speed, wheel driven, almost exactly (anniversary tomorrow) 84 years ago.
Does horsepower come into top speed by much?Surely it is more engine capacity.

I see they forgot the old 'fold the door mirrors in for an extra 10mph' trick.
Amateur at best
Just Germans being very sensible. The small speed gain is easily negated by the danger of not being able to see clearly if someone is trying to overtake. Amateur at best
Billionaire problems.
