Dirty Cars Winter 19/20

I’m pretty sure that fact that this is silver is making this look a lot cleaner than it should! From the door trims down it’s basically mud.
A commute which involves single track roads means September to March it’s pointless cleaning it.
Roads like this are a pain, I just used to power wash the car once a week to stop it getting totally encrusted underneath... Never had rot issues thankfully.A commute which involves single track roads means September to March it’s pointless cleaning it.
I've also got a silver V70 and despite having never seen a wash never mind a polish in weeks and doing a 50 mile commute over motorway and single track, it does seem remarkably resistant to getting dirty. My wife's got a V50 and it gets similar use but seems to attract dirt with alarming ease.
That said, the V70 had a go at this earlier and I suspect the morning daylight may reveal the true horror of the aftermath. As an aside, winter tyres were impressively grippy... I didn't think it'd manage more than its own length given the incline but I stand corrected.
That said, I'm sat in the living room and I'm sure I can smell it sat outside now ... that or there's a herd of flatulent cows living under the stairs.

How is it that despite being the same, one car seems to attract more dirt than the other?
Probably depends on what roads you have driven on, one road may be completely filthy! My 3 series touring is shocking at the moment just after one road yesterday, farmers were up and down out of the fields, I will post my effort in a months time

Road conditions would do it really. My journey was all dry roads on the continent. Now the gritters are out in England I'm sure the dirt will accumulate more quickly. I commute 84 miles per day so we'll see how it goes!90% of the grime on my red one in that pic is from a single 6 hour night time motorway run, which is usually the best time to pick up all of the traffic grime from the days traffic which is now sat on the surface.
If it’s damp enough to create spray but not wet enough for it to have a washing effect then you end up with something like my photo
