For a clean sheet design, the way the Alpine looks is unforgivable for me.
Same with the new mid engined Corvette.
Both should/could be so much better.
Looks are subjective, I like it, and much better in the flesh, imo.Same with the new mid engined Corvette.
Both should/could be so much better.
It’s not a clean sheet though…
Could've gone in another, more modern, direction.
I'm just not a fan of it, sorry.

Surprised at the Lambo's 'weight' but only the Alpine is anywhere near what you would call lightweight. Shame it's the worst looking.
I don't think circa 1500kgs for a 4WD car with a big V10 engine and 4WD with enough tech and creature comforts to make it a viable daily driver is too heavy.....Are there many other 4WD cars with similar-sized engines and performance which are much lighter? 911 Turbo S unladen weight is 1640kgs. Can you give any examples which justify your comments to suggest the Lambo is especially heavy, given the type of car it is?Either way, the article describes them as "three lightweight sports cars.
However you justify why it weighs what it does, the Huracan isn't lightweight IMO.

I agree, IRL it looks great - in a homogenised world is refreshing to have something that looks so different. Has yours arrived yet? Really looking forward to seeing some photos.
Lambo I don’t think has a place in this test anyway, but like all modern supercars the concept leaves me so cold (even my Yaris feels too quick for the road at times: that thing must be ridiculous), so not even got to the part when I evaluate what it looks like yet!

"lacks a manual", says the UK Car enthusiast internet - whilst the UK public continues to select auto over manual for pretty much every car when both are offered alongside each other....
New 991.2 GT3 manual and 991.2 GT3 PDK sold in similar numbers in the UK and only around 8% of used 991.2 GT3s offered are manual as most first owners are keeping them.992 GT3 is expected to be the same.

The shorter gearbox ratios of the PDK v manual are also largely an internet myth there is actually little between the two and the GT4 manual gearbox action is one of Porsches best.

I've had manual and PDK (admittedly not in a GT car) and I found the ratios far too long for the road in the manual and found the PDK fantastic on track. 100% get how others would feel the opposite, but then that's the beauty of the world - there's a choice for everyone!
Nobody is wrong for choosing the gearbox they want in their car. To the same end, nobody is wrong for preferring one over the other. I'm often told how bananas are awesome fruit with plenty of health benefits...but I'd rather have crisps. Horses for courses, bud.

The A110 just looks gopping from this angle:
And also looks slab sided in other pics and generally not attractive. I concede it looks better (if still not aesthetically pleasing) in person.
Tend to agree, in pictures they look like a bloated Kei car. It just looks arrogantly styled. Which for a French company is par for the course, but they forgot to add fun here. And also looks slab sided in other pics and generally not attractive. I concede it looks better (if still not aesthetically pleasing) in person.
Much better in the flesh though. A lot better. This has to be the one car where pictures do it no justice.
Still wouldn't have one, at 60k they are reaching. This is a really weird and limited market. Once you are in the 60k + sportscar bracket you have to be really committed to NOT buy the correct answer which is always 911. Unless you are rich enough that a French curiosity is an itch you can scratch.
The Cayman too, massive commitment needed at a whisker under 100k. All 3 of these are probably toys, not daily's.
Shame I don't have one of them fancy dash cams or something like a Go Pro when out and about. Had this S in Matt since Jan 21, honestly the number of men, women and children who stare, point and come up to query what on earth this is and in a nice surprised, like "never seen one but lovely car mate". Then of course you get those who know their cars and even then it's all thumbs up. Guess it's the rarity but make NO MISTAKE Alpine is a head tuner, and I have to say the majority see the 4 ringed driving leds first, i.e. as opposed to parked car, but kids especially see some magic, may be symmetry but there's something there for sure.
No-one is going to genuinely agonise between these three. If you want a track day car that is practical enough not to need a trailer, it's the Pork. If you want a car that is an "event" to drive - but is too wide and impractical for everyday use, it's the Lambo. If you want a car that you can use every day for pretty much everything except going to Ikea - but is still great fun to drive - it's the Alpine.
While clearly the looks aren't to everyone's taste, my experience is that (by a country mile) the A110 attracts more positive comments and thumbs up from car nuts, middle aged housewives, and pensioners alike, than any car I have owned.

Looks like I'm in the minority as I like the styling of the A110.
I'm with you, I think it's a very elegant and tight design that is blissfully free of all the bulging arches, spoilers and aggressive trappings of its sporting peers. I think the base 718 is similarly neat design, often spoiled by all the add-ons. The rear 3/4 is - to my eyes at least - reminiscent of some of the more stylish sports cars of the '60s when design seemed so much more pleasing on the eye.
