I never thought I’d want to see Bangle back at the helm, but this does it.

To celebrate our motorsport heritage, we’ve decided to launch an ugly, overweight suv. Nice one BMW.

Are they taking the pi$$? Basically they’ve imagined the Lubyanka dry humping St. Helier Hospital and put wheels at each corner.

It’s not just that the car is goppingly, monstrously ugly, inside and out, but that this is how BMW wants to celebrate 50 years of M cars. I know the performance will be outstanding but surely some sort of M1 type of development would’ve been more appropriate, or maybe a series of hand-made M5s and M3s. And make them electric, if that’s where M is heading.

Otherwise it’s just a case of making the X7 a bit snortier.
Wouldn’t you want to celebrate such a momentous anniversary by making the best car you possibly can, putting the very last screaming n/a engine in it - perhaps a development of their old V10 - with three pedals, and selling a couple of thousand of them for a couple of hundred thousand Euro each? They’d be sold out in hours, and everyone would be raving about the new M1.

But no, we get this gopping monstrosity that no-one is going to want to keep in their collection except as the daily.

Assumed it was a sniff petrol spoof.
But it’s real. How odd.

I’ve just watched the promo vid, I’m sorry but not being a marketeer, can anyone actually explain what the author is trying to get across, because I haven’t got a clue?

I am all for providing folks from all walks of life, backgrounds and whatever opportunities in all areas of business, but BMW need to perhaps need to accept that using blind and partially sighted styling teams isn't working for them.

This is what happens when you leave designers completely alone in a sealed room... for years. What on earth has "that" got to do with M cars? It looks like a schoolboys scribble fantasy. What on earth were they thinking? no, wait, who cares...

I guess this is what happens when your main markets are Moscow, Beijing, Dubai and Florida and they're welcome to it.

Ultimate Driving Machine becomes Ugly Derisory Mess.

BMW what have you done? How can you tarnish the M brand with this hideous carbuncle and throw away the respect and heritage that has accrued over many decades?

The front looks like some insect/sea creature with its little front arms for feeding itself.

I can usually see some merit in any design but really struggling with this.

Shock and awe from BMW!

Now they have got your attention - this will get people talking (and laughing) for months -

a high impact advertisement and its working wonders already! Look at the comments!

The Germans have got a sense of humour after all? Haven't they?

They'll let this run a.few months and then roll out the much more subdued model.

WON'T THEY? Tell me they will!

If this is for real I'm going to have to sell my BMW due to embarrassment through association.

It's just sad really. They could have made a new M1 with a hybrid powertrain to rival hypercars like the Ferrari SF90 and the Lamborghini Sian. Or even a fully electric hypercar to take on Rivian and Lotus, call it the iM or something.
Instead we get this. Come on man

BMW designers piling back into the clown car for another lap around the track. Absolutely sickening.

Hahaha, now that’s an image! God love them, they’ve given us all a laugh on a stty Tuesday morning. Think we couldn’t design an uglier car than the new 4 series? Think again muchacho, think again…
