Nice. Tempting. Its going to be very tuneable. Only on sale for two years.

I am tempted to buy one instead of an Emira for double the money.

I went the other from a BRZ. Much better engine in the Mazda.
Better handling in the BRZ.

The new engine has to be better than the old 2.0 in the GR86.

Is a cracking little engine, the revised 2.0 in the MX-5. I'd expect the new GR86 engine to be at least as good to tempt me into changing..

. I'd also expect 60MPG for such a modern car but from what I've read it can't do it.
Weirdest comment I have read for some time.

Then you don't read as widely as I do. laugh

Just thought I'd get in first before the naysayers, 60MPG from a N/A 2.4 petrol was the hint that I was joking.

I’ve learned to either ramp up the satirical comments to where they are no longer funny, or not to make them at all. I thought your comment was funny, but some people believe you really meant what you wrote.

I hope there’s a bit more to be had out of the engine. I’ll be looking to put an exhaust, springs and a remap of some sort. I wonder how much of the GT86 stuff is going to carry over!

I must be one of the few people who are disappointed that it’s now got a price and that order books will open soon! I was hoping it would be delayed until later this year!

I’ve got my current car until November so deliveries as early as July are no good for me. I just hope that there will be some left for orders in 2023 as I will be gutted to miss out on one of these!

It looks like decent value for money and will probably be a bit more playful than the GR Yaris. Dashboard looks a bit more together than the GRY. On the list if I ever get bored of the latter.

265hp with a re-tune and sports exhaust. Lively. A Sapphire Cosworth weighed the same with 224hp.

Lovely.

Lovely.
in the real world, it weighed more and even less power. also, wouldn't have the balance.

They have done a great job with the engine, they seem to dyno about 40whp more than a gen 1, so fairly quick in std form. There's loads of info from the japs and yanks out there, they have already started modding, tracking and building these cars for a while now, they are pretty much sold out in the us, so a bit surprising that they will pop up in june, or that might be UK/RHD only. Anyway, i hope we get some of them here to Europe at least!

Nice car but it needs 300BHP and should cost ~£21K for that spec. I'd also expect 60MPG for such a modern car but from what I've read it can't do it.
I congratulate you on your successful troll. The levels of woosh are off the charts.

amazing how many people seem to think power is directly related to level of fun a car is.......................

sign of the times i believe. think more should go drive an MX5 or any sub 150bhp hot hatch. i don't mean drive it down the high street , i mean a proper drive on some proper roads or even a track. Some may argue thatthe GT86 is now a little too powerful and with the chosen pilot 4 rubber they have moved away from the craziness of the old Gt86. Always had so much respect for drivers of the Gt86 as you know they bought it for drivers reasons not - pop pop bang bang flappy paddle sub 4 to 60 rubbish.

This looks an absolute bargain at the price, i'm struggling to see what the catch is as it looks like Toyota have listened to every criticism of the Gt86 and come back and answered them whilst keeping it this side of pure. I'm wondering if this will push the Gt86 prices down or whether to go crazy and just order one of these.

Luke.

Excellent. Have lots of warm, fuzzy feelings for Toyota at the mo. And its cars don’t fall apart after 3yrs / 60k.
