The rear lights do look a bit Kia Stinger, but overall I quite like it. The last version was a bit too much for me, with a lot going on. This looks a cleaner design and I don't mind the rear wing. The small supports let you see the overall lines of the car so I feel it blends in more than the previous chunky versions that had a lot of additional 'aero' bits going on.

It reminds me a bit of the old Accord Type R. Generally clean and understated lines. Just the big wing. I wonder how the dimensions compare.

As previous comments, does seem a bit strange if only a four seater, particularly if a larger car now and seems it would happily accommodate five.

Is definitely looks much better in the proper photographs and video than the renders. When I saw the FK8 I wasn't mega bothered, preferred the FK2 looks. But when I saw one in the flesh at a dealership I was wowed by its madness and presence. Looked so much better than the pics.

I really like this. Not 100% sold on the side profile/bonnet line from some photos, but imagine it looks better in the flesh. Needs to be sub-40k though.

Cannot see why people would be underwhelmed. It is less origami and more mature and purposeful. The outgoing Type R had all sorts of fake intakes and other silliness. Much better than the Imprezza and less grilly than zee germans. Though perhaps not as sexy as the Giulia. Even the interior looks better.

Never once heard them described that way... Even Google drew a blank.
presumably it means it has disc brakes on both left AND right at the front, and drum breaks at the rear. I would like to see quad disc Brembo's on it personally.

Funny how PH change, same as with the Toyobaru twins on PH. First the FK8 was to much Pep Boys or Max Power bodykit, now the new FL5 is too bland. The new FL5 carry on the tradition of Type R models being understated.

Three pipes in the centre works on a supercar (think 458 Italia) on a hot hatch, specifically a Honda, I`m not entirely convinced. Think I`d have a MK8 GTI over this, looks classier, has the heritage and would be a more attractive proposition on a day to day basis.

Gets better the more I look at it. Love those rear arches.

I think I fall into the minority of FK8 owners that like the looks of both the FL5 and FK8. Two different design languages that I'm happy to appreciate.

Good shot & post there.

Looks like this could be akin to the M2 where the rear arches look wide, but in the flesh look almost like a caricature they’re so wide.

Hopefully this will make it stand out more as it does look quite reserved in comparison to the comedy FK8 - not necessarily a bad thing given the price point & that most people who can afford something like this don’t want it to look too daft, & I say that as someone looking for a FK8!

I agree. Never been a fan of the Three pipe set-up however, i understand the reasons behind it.

I do prefer this FL5 shape to the FK2 and FK8 but i prefer the twin exhaust pipes set-up of the FK2.

What are the reasons for three pipes, genuine question?

I can see the appeal of this - and might even lead me to going back down to one car.

White - and have that spoiler wrapped the same colour would make it a spiritual successor to my old ITR!

Looks great, I much prefer this long and low look to the old 'cab forward' design.

Wonderful to see Honda have stuck with actual buttons for all the main controls, and not been tempted to go down the haptic route VAG have followed.

Honda have made a formal commitment to never do that. Still an engineering company to their fingertips.

Here's a future prediction. Dedicated controls will be the hallmark of upmarket, premium cars. Touchscreens and little else will dominate the affordable end. The cat is firmly out of the bag that relegating switchgear to screens is all about the bottom line.

I posted earlier when this was asked that the final FK8’s were just over 36 in GT spec, so assuming they do a similar GT version I’d say 39,995 - but I did note this was partly in hope to avoid the 40k luxury tax.

Sadly I think you could be right.

As someone else has said they think 45 could be too high - perhaps 39,995 non GT & 42,995 GT

Whatever it’s going to be more than the FK8 & most likely +10% more too.

Makes the 33,500 I was quoted for a FK8 GT in 2019 almost seem a bargain!

I wouldn’t be surprised if they drop the non GT spec this time? Did they sell many non GT FK8’s? I may be searching wrong but I can’t see any for sale on AT.

I hope it does come in at under £40k but the entry level Civic has just been released which starts at £30k so I can’t see it.

Edit- I just specced a Civic ‘Advance’ with a few options and it’s over £36k.

I really hope you are right mate but have you seen the new 2 series and M2 interior. It’s two fecking iPads glued to the dash. Hideous.

A very valid point. In the early days when I was looking there was the odd non GT but I’d agree I’ve not seen one for a while - from memory it had an odd spec like a camera but no parking sensors.

Re the hybrid, I do wonder if it’s relatively expensive due to the technology, it’s a generator EV as I understand it as opposed to ICE with hybrid added.

Anyway, I hope both you and I are wrong and it is cheaper, here’s hoping!

Are Honda going to do a Toyota and have a limited production run ala GR Yaris / GR86?

Pricing is a massive factor, I really hope they can keep it under £40k but I’d be amazed if they do.

Looking forward to seeing one in the metal that’s for sure. Was a big fan of the previous iterations and think this looks a lot more ‘grown up’. Not saying it’s a bad thing though.
