Having worked on this car and driven it (being the aforementioned marque specialist), this particular E38 is one of the nicest condition examples I have seen since they were a few years old, not 25 years old. The underside of the car is completely free of corrosion but thats down to the life it has lead.

Interestingly its a UK spec car sold new by Sytner Nottingham before being exported straight away to Brunei.

The seller offered it to me and I would love to own this having owned a pair of E38 750iL's in the past but alas, other projects are taking up funds.

How does the design director give the seal of approval on this when they can see how sleek and elegant they used to look yikes

I mean, come on! All the way from the design team, to the supervisors to the directors - does no one in BMW see how far they have fallen?

I had a 728i M-Sport, 2000, in Cosmos Black with cream leather interior. Still probably the most solidly engineered car I’ve ever owned. X382 DBL, where are you now?….

Dare I say it, but peak luxury BMW? What a lovely car to be in, either the front or the back seat. In the age of people paying £60k for an old Ford, perhaps not massively overpriced either. I know which I’d prefer anyway!

That's a stunning looking Alpina, 70grand seems hell of a lot, wonder what the same Alpina in LHD can be sourced for in Europe or here if any have been imported , surely 1 can be found for a lot less.

Will somebody want 1 enough to pay £70,000 , will some dealers get stuck with cars they want too much for if prices ever return to nearer precovid prices.

Still has a valid ticket (till April) so it’s still going strong at 180K plus miles. Not a single mention of corrosion in its MOT history either. thumbup

I sold my 750i a few years ago - so glad I owned it but so glad I got out of it. This is just beautiful.

Massive want for that (but not at that price). Just look at the stance from the front. Makes my e39 540i look puny in comparison.

Peak BMW Styling. Gorgeous except for the tailgate badges.

My old CEO had a Blue 728i sport of the same vintage and even that looked the business in a light metallic blue.

No way.....I believe it was you who sold it to me! Would have been around 2011 I think? I sold it to another PHer and I believe it is still going. I'm pretty sure the seller of mine was Tom, lived near Bristol sort of way I think...?

Over a decade ago I've seen B12 6.0 in lovely green for sale, I think somewhere in Windsor.
I didn't have the balls (or budget) to buy (and run) something like that at the time but it went straight to no 1 spot on best BMWs ever list.

It was in a sorry state then, hasn't run for years and hasn't been restored. Another car that will eventually be a 'barn find' and listed for more a silly price that doesn't take into account the restoration costs.

And those in the know would prefer the 5.7 engine over the 6.0 anyway.

I love it when this happens. MOT checker shows it’s still going strong.

Yes - a bugbear of mine since it's an additional vertical line that divides the overall shape.

So elegant - is there something in the water nowadays that prevents modern designers from thinking "elegance"?

Agree wheels slightly too big, standard BMW ones were better proportioned:

That was me mate! I remember you turning up with your old man in an M3! Ha ha! I’m glad you enjoyed it, that it subsequently went to a good home, and that it’s still going strong!
