I genuinely cant watch F1. I will watch the documentary but I just found it all a bit boring the last 15yrs or so.
Would argue 2008 onwards have been some of the best seasons in memory. Even with the dominance of Merc/RB the racing and drama has been top notch.2021 was about as good a year for everything as it gets in the history of the sport.

One of my brothers ( for Williams F1) was at track when they were at Jerez testing, they all thought the car was running low fuel , to attract sponsors and interest in the team. They were not running low fuel, they were just quick.
Yeah that seemed to be the consensus and I think Brawn were absolutely happy for people to believe that, so did nothing to suggest otherwise.A good friend of mine PHUMY (who posts a lot on PH's) eldest son worked for Honda at the time it morphed into Brawn. His son said that the car was so fast when they tested it that they were running with full tanks to try and disguise it's true pace. A truly great season to be a F1 fan.

I was just about to post that that's what I had heard, but I'd only heard it as an internet rumour. Seems like sometimes the internet may be true .pingu393 said:

Also go back and listen to this interview from 2016 from Motorsport Magazine:

Just watched all four episodes. It goes into far more than just the Brawn story, covering the whole season with all it's behind the scenes politics with the FOTA breakaway.
I think it's the best F1 documentary i have seen, it's extremely well done.
Loved the way that Brawn GP's laywer, Caroline McGrory, stitched up Bernie when he tried to screw them for the $12 million prize money owed Honda, which without payment would have sunk the team mid season, he was refusing to pay unless they broke from the FOTA group. Bernie thought he had them over a barrel, and was playing them, he almost managed it and thought he had, but she put a clause in the document that made it null and void if Bernie went behind their back, which he did. Brilliant.
I uploaded the Silverstone shakedown footage i have.

Testament to the car and the sport that, even filmed on a potato and on the single worst layout in the history of Silverstone Circuit, that is a wonder to watch/listen to. The sport really could be so much better running those types of engines on synthetic fuels, be able to ditch the 10 tonnes of batteries/assorted hybrid gubbins and start making cars sound good again instead of the bastardised V6/abortive turbocharger noise we get now. You won't like the 2026 cars then. One of the few benefits of the current quieter cars is it's bringing more families to the races due to not blowing the ears out of kids or the reluctant misses. It's also making them less of an issue on the now in favour city circuits. They sound st compared to the NA cars, but for most who see these things on TV they really don't change anything. I don't see F1 changing things until road cars are 100% BEV, then they can drop the pretence of a valid research area for OEM's.

V10s were amazing in sound but even as a middle aged man I found they hurt my ears from the stands... let alone when viewing from the pits which I was lucky enough to do.
No way I'd take a kid to see them without ear defenders, which then makes it an odd sport to watch if you need protection as a spectator.
