RE: 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio | UK Review
Discussion
While I'm looking forward to the Giulia Vs M3 test as trailed, wouldn't it be great to get the Giulia up against a fit E39 M5? Come on PH, you did the 25th anniversary polls last year, now how about putting some of the top finishers in each category in some tests throughout this year?
I just love these!
Amazing to drive and stunning to look at what more do you want in a car.
They are actually smaller than you think in real life. I certainly found it smaller than it’s direct rivals when I drove one.
I went an M2 at the time but was a coin flip between the two and came down to which I found more fun to drive. Funny thing is if I was picking again now I’d take the Alfa because it would be easier with the baby seat.

There is a whole generation of people that want that, that think it’s a 37k car and would but a BMW to be in the safe side. I can not believe that price even in 2024. It a great looking car that will never sell.
It is a £37K car. That's what 2019 cars with not many miles on the clock sell for. Depreciation is savage on these.NGK210 said:

Maybe I’m a complete Luddite, but I’ll take the dated interior over touchscreen HVAC controls and haptic feedback touchpads on the steering wheel any day
No, you’re not. Here’re the marques that retain real knobs ‘n’ buttons:
Aston
Bentley
Lexus-Toyota
Maserati
McLaren
Pagani
Rolls-Royce
Quite a significant little bunch. The rest are cost-cutting shysters.
And from 2026, Euro NCAP has decided it will award five-star ratings only to cars that retain physical controls for key features:

Hopefully that and some pretty strong consumer backlash will help push certain groups *cough cough VWG cough* back to a more sensible setup.

Much want. When they finally pulled their finger out and made something special, we always want more but Alfa really failed to capitalise......still.

I have a Veloce which is fast enough in the real world of South East England, and on the Autobahn most of the time. Every time I drive it I relish in how supple it is. The only thing lacking for me is a more Alfa-like soundtrack. But the price difference to the QF is too great - especially when you factor in the anecdotally significantly greater running costs.
I was about to place an order on a Veloce in 2018. The numbers stacked up and the test drive confirmed it would be a good choice. But then a factory order Audi S4 came up for not much more money and I was swayed by the extra power, all wheel drive and the presumed superior reliability. The S4 broke down twice mind (gearbox and thermostat issues) and was off the road for 6 weeks in total. So perhaps I should've gone for the Veloce after all! Article said:
"The ride is improved as well. Again it’s hard to say with absolute certainty, though this Giulia didn’t feel to have lost any of the old model’s suppleness - a real boon given how tough cars like the M3 are - while also feeling more assured over lumps and bumps."
Having driven both I disagree with this, I think both ride equally as well.

You comment on these QF thread often based on the one you drove, which my all accounts appears to have been damaged or just a dog."The ride is improved as well. The universal opinion favours the ride of the Giulia!
