Roof down so you can hear the whirring of the electric motors.
What dreams are made of !
I heard Taycan turbo S launch... I must say, that was a good sound! What dreams are made of !
And yes, I have a V8 sportscar, I know how a V8 sound. I liked taycan about the same.
I also like screens in a car, so...
I have no good or bad thoughts either way on the car but its interesting.
The thing I cannot comprehend is such a high value car and it has a nasty charging flap stuck in the middle of the bumper.
I know modern fuel filler flaps aren't particularly romantic but surely this could be designed within a feature of the car somewhere better..?

"It's too heavy." Really? It's going to violently understeer across the pavement and into Hermès, is it?
Silent drop-top wafty loveliness. Gorgeous thing.
And EV is perfect for the application. You might like the idea of sounding like a straight-piped apocalypse at 30kph, but your mistress in Monaco probably wants to be able to converse with her style adviser without shouting.
If you don't think they know their market, look at the colour of it. Mr Wallet is driving, but if that colour wasn't carefully chosen to appeal to his "masseuse", I'll eat my fedora. Cheap enough to fit on one of the non-titanium credit cards too, so the wife will never notice.
I mean, who the hell cares if a bunch of smelly, terminally single IT professionals on a declining 20th century TVR forum thinks it might be dynamically compromised? Everything is compromised. Now if you'll excuse me, I just noticed my family SUV shipped without straight-cut gears, so I'm off to address that immediately!!

Maserati get extra points for making a 2+2 supercar where the seats are usable. It seems to be beyond most car makers.
This is true and those of us 'in the know' wanting a coupe/convertible that can take kids in the back have bought them over the last 25 years or so. Mind it is not enough to make volumes more than acceptable for Maserati.Agree with others' that the colour is appalling.

It may not get used as enthusiastically as a sports car, but 2300kg is still going to feel very heavy and isn't going to be as nice to drive as something weighing half a ton less. You can mask it with loads of power and AWD under acceleration; you can't do much to make it brake and steer like a lighter car.Silent drop-top wafty loveliness. Gorgeous thing.

The old GT/GC did a fair job of hiding their heft but add over 25% and if you've even a slight interest in driving, that difference will be very noticeable.
Options are nice to have and no doubt some will prefer a silent, heavy car for plenty of reasons. This "declining 20th century TVR forum" is still an enthusiast's forum, and ultimately it's a car that might be considered by enthusiasts, so you shouldn't be too surprised that people here are talking about the negatives of the huge weight and loss of a charismatic engine.

Wind noise is always a problem with convertibles at speed. This will be no difference. I still prefer the relative effortless calm of driving an EV with no synthetic engine sound being played through the speakers that many modern cars have.
Tyre engineering is now an interesting topic. How to reduce particulates and also decrease road noise.
Good to see the target demographic is engaged with all the most important points of the car Tyre engineering is now an interesting topic. How to reduce particulates and also decrease road noise.
This kind of ridiculous virtue signally green nonsense is totally out of control. Plenty more to worry about in the modern world than 'tyre particulates'.

I feel some companies will die in this new world.
Maserati, Jaguar, Alfa...
Agree with this. As a long term Maserati owner, I see little future for them. Alfa is a mess and Jaguar has a strange strategy.Maserati, Jaguar, Alfa...
Porsche seemed to have nailed it with the Taycan significantly outselling the Panamera and growing year on year. Still achieving a great margin too.
Apparently the RR Spectre is a hit especially with younger buyers. Yes younger buyers. They are the future not a few posters who will never afford such cars or the middle age and older PH posters that wish to cling to their ICEs which of course they can. In fact if you are around 50 you will never need to sully your hands on the wheel of an EV.
Then there are real un-blinkered enthusiasts that have appreciated many of the more special ICEs the've owned and may still own whilst embracing the future.

Tyre wear particulates are now a known problem so focus can rightly be given to it.
Companies are also looking at how they can reduce or eradicate the need for car usage.
Car weight is a problem Even cars like an E class start around 1900kg now and the popularity of big SuVs has not helped. A Tesla 3 is about the same as a M4.
