Well I think it looks great, and I’m not really a fan of the stuff MB is pumping out these days. Also don’t really understand where people who keep rattling on about how much it looks like a 911, are coming from, it doesn’t.

Loose that dated and ugly iPad look and the interior is quite nice too
Nothing like a 911 you say?

They, like many other cars, have a sloping back. But to suggest that the who car looks the same is a long stretch IMO - the long muscle car-esque bonnet and stubby rear is still the predominant design feature of the GT, something the 911 doesn't have.
No one is saying it is literally a 911 copy but most would say it’s the first car it reminds them of, IMO.

It’s an epic car but I much prefer the styling of the previous model GT from 5 years ago

Hard to see why anyone would pick this over a 911. The interior is disappointing at best and the large knock off ipad screens already seem dated.

Just cant believe it, but... that is terrible value for money.

You can go quicker for much less money. The new Tesla Model 3 performance is lighter, seats people more comfortably, will cost pennies to run, and save you about £100k. And what options will people get with the base AMG? This thing is at least £100k overpriced considering what else is available with the level of performance.

From a distance, this still looks like a Chinese knock-off 911 with a cheap and nasty interior.
Sadly AMG is now little more than a badge-engineering and marketing exercise.
This.

How Mercedes have got away with this design is unbelievable.
It's a FE GT car - the shape is quite different.

Seriously? confused

I'd say no to the Tesla Model 3 if someone wanted to give me one for free! Have you seen the absolute state of the things both inside and outside? Motoring doesn’t get much worse than a Tesla for me, and they shout from the rooftops that you're not interested in cars/driving all day long to me.

C’mon, seriously. I’ve read a lot of your posts over the years. Everyone should buy a Lexus, a model 3 Performance is what people should buy. Well that’s quite right, IF it’s the car the actual want. Some people buy what on paper/spreadsheet makes the most sense in a cold facts way, buying with the head. Others buy with their heart, a proper engine, a car with some soul. A car they want to look back at after a journey or go for a drive in at 5 in the morning.
The M3P is a good car for what it is but that’s not going to pull anyone’s heartstrings or looking forward to an early drive on the back roads.
Everything you say about the Tesla makes total sense but I have no desire to own one. I’ve never owned a practical car in my life. There’s always been many sensible options at anytime I’ve bought a car but an estate, a 4 door, a Tesla, something cheap to run/insure… all been ignored for something less practical, bought with the heart.
Humans do these things.

It is obvious that I'm not a fan of Tesla of course, but the way that they get bigged up does blow my mind for sure. I genuinely struggle to get it(outside them being cheap motoring for folk who aren't bothered about cars in general).

I mean...this or a nice 911? Or a Tesla? Seriously? hehe

I can't get my head around the pricing of this car, the only reason I could see why you'd buy this is to be different. The 911 Turbo, DB12, Vantage, Roma etc all appeal far more. Appreciate you buy these cars with your heart as much as your head but this doesn't pull on my heartstrings at all, I expect the depreciation will be absolutely biblical

I can't get excited over this new GT - To me it's just another fast coupe rather than a pure sportscar/GT that the previous model was.
I owned a 16 plate GTS and now have a 17 plate GTC, they are shouty, fun, very playful sports Gts and very quick. This new one has lost the soul of the previous gen.
I always liken the old ones to a German TVR but with the added bonus of build quality and reliability.

Exactly… I don’t even like the Merc but given the choice between the GT or an M3P, it’s the GT all day long.
I’ve got no problem with likes Rob being all the way in with EV’s but I just wouldn’t go in on an EV thread and say I can’t believe they’d have one over an XYZ with a thundering V8. Each to their own.
PS… that’s not a dig at you Lee, I know you’re less than keen on EV’s. beer

Looks fantastic.

Don't see the 911 in it at all and as for the ipad screen, is it really that much of a big deal!

And a superbike is even quicker and even cheaper, but they are all totally different things.

Cheap motoring for folk who aren't bothered about cars in general? Hmm, I don't have a magic money tree, so I do actually think about what it costs me to run a car. Sorry if that offends, but I would venture a guess to say I'm not the only person in the world who thinks about these things. And believe it or not, I do like cars quite a lot; the new m3p will be quite a bit faster than my current (old) tesla, and a LOT faster than my lexus LS. I havent see any reviews yet, but I'm led to believe this new one will do a quarter mile in less than 11 seconds.

Are you honestly going to tell me that a car that does 10.x seconds holds zero appeal? The old one was faster around a track than the equivalent bmw m3, so everything that made the bmw special from a performance point of view was exceeded. And this one will be faster again.

The model 3 performance is quicker than a lot of cars. If performance is what you're looking for, it delivers. And at £100k less than this thing, I just dont understand the thinking against it. I will definitely be trading the old one for a new one when the time comes (I want one thats 1-3 years old); will you be buying this AMG?

I've run a variety of bikes. Last few years its been Fireblade, ZZR1100, R1, R1, S1000RR. Also throw in a few scooters. But you're comparing bikes versus cars, whereas I was comparing cars versus cars.
