I'll give it a couple more issues to find it's feet... only read a couple of the articles, but with the quattro/intergrale etc feature , i felt that i'd read it all before.

O.K being a car nerd and car mag addict for about the last 30 years , i have read it before hehe , younger folk may not have, so fair's fair.
Did they come to the same conclusions in the original road tests?

Modified stuff can be made far more interesting , Practical Performance car for example smokin.
'Retro' and 'Revs' had the potential to be really good mags for that kind of stuff - a few "drive" stories always provokes some interest e.g. Revs mag when they did the Jag vs E30 325 vs Saab 9000 Turbo to South of France trip and similar. Sadly they chose to go the way of Max Power .....but there's no denying it became more popular at the time because of that course

The great drivers cars of the past don't change sadly.

I like to see the comparison articles of old vs new - something like an E30 M3 from the 80s, a 325 from the 90s and perhaps a modern 320si - that sort of thing. A 205Gti thrown into the warm hatch test would have livened it up a bit.
I'm hoping that might happen in due course in the new mag

I'm sure they're reading this. Even EVO took notice of the posts on here and changed their tune slightly lately.

I like reading about specific cars and their owners , the four cas in the Quattro etc article for example.
What influenced them to buy the car, problems, joys, spend ,mods, current market values and availability ? etc.

With the Quattro , maybe an article comparing road/competition versions.
Instead of running an article an the bog standard , new Imprezza WRX .. Get over to Litchfield imports and give us 3 pages on the stuff they're selling - we can read about the standard cars in Autocar.

What about articles discussing the cultural impact of certain cars when they were new - again the Quattro, the whole mk2 Golf Gti Sloane thing.

I buy Classic and Sportscar , the first page i turn to is Martin Buckley's page - when he writes about Triumph Stags he talks about 70's suburbia , wife swapping , Abigails Party and sideburns .

The Classic truck magazines have articles, with blokes reminiscing about running Foden's out of Derbyshire over Snake Pass in the 1960's - no big drama's just tales ... makes a great read.

Performance Car could do an article about the Sierra Cosworth - instead of the usual copy , why not interview ex traffic cops - ask them about the Cossies they drove and the ones they chased hehe..
Not one line soundbites - 4 page articles - real in depth , interesting stuff.

The Performance Car title has a lot of potential lets hope they tap into it.

I bought it today and I've read most of it. I don't think it was that good, why test an £11k Suzuki against a £20k (!!!) Mini? And the conclusion was a bit of a cop-out, its seemed to me like they were saying "The Suzuki didn't lose this test but the mini is a better car." Also I got the impression that there was some waffle about interiors and gadgets filling space in the Clio test.

I wonder how long it will stay so low on adverts.

After scouring the shops for 2 days to find this mag. I wish I`d kept my 4 quid in my pocket.
It`s average at best ... so hopefully it`ll get alot better.
I`ll be tight and just flick through it in Smiths next time smile

Some nice photography and I think there's a nice idea there in terms of what they're going to test/write about, but I bought it 2 days ago and am already done with it... Evo ususally lasts me a couple of weeks of bog time. I'm not sure my bowels have been behaving any differently so it must be down to the content. I thought the look and feel was a little bit downmarket and a bit dated, and some of the articles just a bit bland... you get the feeling they're written without actually taking the drive (the BMW 630 article for example). I don't have the urge to preserve and file it like I do with Evo - there's nothing that I would want to refer back to. But all that said, I will buy issue 2 and see how it's progressing. Full marks to the publishers for giving it ago.

Performance Tuner did this recently - and 205 Gti v Clio R27 at the Ring. I agree with the earlier comments on Performance Car, I remember it so fondly. PT started this time last year, and I like it - www.performancetuner.co.uk. Having just checked the website address the publishers also do 911 and Porsche World, Japanese Performance, and some niche stuff.

Just can't get it easily enoughfrown It can be a bh to find. I'd like to have a look at Performance Car, see how it compares...

I only just found a copy today, every WHSmith I found myself near didn't seem to have one. In the end, the last place I would find something like EVO is where I found it, my local tiny newsagents.

My only complaint, no Panda 100HP in the hatch test, but thats hardly the worst thing in the world, other than that I very much enjoyed it.

Well, I subscribed immediately. It's not as engrossing to read as Evo (I put this down to it having too many box-outs breaking up the articles) but it is far, far better than CAR and Top Gear.

Like others have said, the way they are positioning their definition of a 'performance car' appeals to me.
