Why are they testing an off road 4x4 at the 'ring'? ![confused](/inc/images/confused.gif)
Surely it should be tested across a ploughed field with a horse box attached.
It is quite bizarre that as soon as power is given to 4 wheels and not just 2 some people assume the vehicle is an "off-road" vehicle. Range Rovers are ROAD vehicles. They also happen to be very good off road. Their primary use is for road use. A tractor is primarily used off road. You should be able to see the difference.![confused](/inc/images/confused.gif)

How is that steering wheel any less complicated than texting whilst driving?
And if the buttons were mounted on the dashboard that would somehow be better/safer?artov60 said:
Placing the buttons in a more convenient place does not mean you have to use them all at once.
Exactly. If modern cars are going to have loads of functions and therefore buttons to control them, the buttons may as well be positioned so that you don't have to take your hands off the steering wheel to use them.

I've been fortunate enough to drive all of these new products with the new engines. The s/c RR is simply incredible - in a drag race between it and the n/a 5.0 V8, the s/c had completed 0-100-0 before the n/a had reached 95mph...simply an incredible feat.
The new 3.0l diesel is great to, and the Disco 4 finally feels like the premium product inside that it always claimed to be. RRSport s/c with new dynamic setting will surprise most as well...having been driven in it on the limit by one of LR's test drivers again I was staggered at the speed, cornering, braking capability for a car that weighs close to 3 tonnes.
I wanted them all!

I can't remember if they had a bail out. If so, then these had better sell because I don't see why the government should prop up a company that produces products that are not selling given the economic downturn. If not, then ignore what I just said.
ETA: looks like it was a loan. Not sure about this government funding for a "green" Land Rover. That's just idiotic.

Because the RRS gets slagged by BMW/Merc owners for its "handling"...![confused](/inc/images/confused.gif)

To be honest, having owned 10BMW, amongst one of them an X5, and now owning a 2006 RRS, the latter one is a lot more fun to drive... Can only be a good thing that they tested it at the Ring, if you have a 500bhp engine at the top of the range (yes, a bit of a wordplay), it might as well handle not just in a straight line...
And yes, RRS are VERY capable offroaders too...

This doesn't bode well.
Manufacturers typically stagger their model updates so that when the full overhawl or replacement is due, they stagger the investment, tooling, design and infrastructure changes.
I sincerly hope that Land Rover does not end up like Rover/MG by facelifting the same 3 models to death for the next decade like with the rover 200, 400 and 75
