Anyone on here got ( or had ) one of the automatic 309 GTis with aircon?
There were 205s like that as well. I know someone who's got one. They converted it to manual.

Did they have the lower power version of the 1.9?

I think that was the Gentry you're thinking of?. These ones were built for the Japanese market with a catalytic converter, same as the late 1.9s.

I've never seen one in real life and there's not much info on them so didn't know if they were the 120ish bhp or 105ish bhp when they were coupled to an autobox

the GTi auto did have a bit less power than the Manual. Though i dont think it was as low as the Gentry.

Of course even standard 1.9's never make the full 130bhp on a rolling road.

Well, not any more. Mine made considerably more after a decent rebuild! (139.8)

The autos made the same power as the equivalent catalysed manuals. Some say around 115, some 120.

in a word YES !!

but i'm being biased, as i own this

ok, so a lot of money has been spent getting the car back to an 'as new' condition, but compared to a 205 gti (which i do like aswell) the 309 is less common. which is a good thing. the rareity of the 309 will be more favourable in coming years i reckon

It's a different colour to the one in your profile. Did you respray it or was that a different one?

Very, very nice all the same.

had a 205 1.9 and a friend had a 309 gti.

both good but the 309 really felt like it was on rails

I'd love one of those. Always much preferred them to the 205, imho smile

i now drive a gti6 (the last decent gti)
