I've noticed this too. It made me vote 5 for some Malaysian car, all I did was have a quick look at the article.
Did you look at it in the forums or via the homepage?
Too be honest Mr Will I can't really remember, I think it may have been through the forum but not sure. I wasn't greated with a slide bar, it just told me I had rated 5, I wouldn't have minded so much if it wasn't for the fact that I would of rated it a 1! laugh

How about this one then: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

If I can find someone who it is happening to repeatedly then I'm sure we can get to the bottom of it!

Is it working for you on the other links I posted?

I actually saw the PHometer in both the links to forums above and could vote. Even found it on my profiles! woohoo
When did you start adding the PHometer to the news articles? I still can't see it in some of them.frown

It voted 5 for me for something as well without giving me the chance to vote.

I vote 1.29 for the introduction of this new technology, rounded up to 5 no doubt by you guys smile

Andy
You've rated topics on the news stories before without a problem. What was different when you viewed it through the forums? Did it just go straight to the result page rather than showing the voting mechanism?
I think I went directly to the news story from the front page and it put up the 5. It was the Fiesta story. Same for the Mitsubishi Ralliart test.

The news chaps have the choice whether or not to put it on a story, we don't put it on all of them!

I looks like it just worked on the RR Mini story though, did you do anything different?

Will, when I visited both the links you provided, it told me that I'd rated them as a five (no slider).

Will, it's browser related. It doesn't work (for me) in Firefox or Chrome, but when I switch to IE it gives me the slider.

Thanks Ted, has it worked for you on any of them yet?

I don't think so, it works in all three here and seems to be intermittent for most affected people. I think it might be cacheing something that it should be, although I can't see how.

Sorry, you're right. I wasn't logged in to IE.

When I log in to IE, it doesn't give me the slider either smile

FYI on my Firefox (3.5.5 Ubuntu) after I vote the average number shows up as black on black...I can only see the result if I highlight the number confused

It should appear once the dial has finished "revving", or when you click on it. Is it doing neither?

Sorry, as you were - it's working fine!

Definitely didn't used to though

When I access the site from one of the work PC's (on different networks, but both have proxy servers), it automatically rates everything as 5 and shows the dial to represent that. When I accessed it from a stand alone broadband PC, it showed me the slider and allowed me to rate the article.

Work PC1 using IE6
Work PC2 using IE7

Broadband using IE8
