In about 1984, I was waiting at a zebra crossing in Harpenden with my son in his pushchair, when a Saab stopped for me. I went to thank the driver with a wave and it was Eric Morecombe. About a week later he died.

I'm sure I saw Peter Andre once with Katie Price in a yellow Lamborghini once driving along Brighton seafront. What caught my eye was the small child sitting on the lap of the front passenger..

A couple of years ago I saw the darts player James Wade in Aldershot driving a FFRR with the number plate W4 DEY (not miss-spaced). His rather attractive wife was sat in the passenger seat.

Just to add to this incredible thread, I once saw Rory Bremner on Marlborough high street in his Audi SQ5 - he came over and asked me to reverse back a touch so he could fit into a space in front. I was only too happy to oblige as he was so polite, but later really regretted not asking him to do his Robin Cook impression as a pre-condition of me moving my car. An opportunity unlikely to be repeated.

I’ve just remembered seeing John Cooper in his white and black Rover Mini Cooper at a set of traffic lights in Brighton back in 1994, I pulled up alongside in my ‘67 Mk1 Mini, he looked across, smiled and gave me a thumbs up then shot off towards Ferring like a rocket.

In 2017 I was on my way to Beauliue for the Mini Cooper day in my ‘68 Cooper S and was overtaken by his son Mike driving his ‘69 Cooper S.
