Blimey, you didn't keep that for long!
I’ve been given permission to keep it, and may well still do. But suddenly I’m back to five cars after trying to simplify it to one a short while ago, which can be a terrible faff. All of which are now some form of Toyota and therefore marks me out as someone to desperately avoid. Cars are a nasty, addictive disease.Still, clever little car, the RX. And this example is noteworthy for the fact that it’s spent a maximum 12 years on Lexus extended warranty, no doubt at considerable expense, yet hasn’t needed it once. Until that is I take ownership, no doubt.

I didn't know you had one. I thought 2 x LS400s (last purchase 17/05)
Two LS400's, one LS460....The '460 was last volume's purchase, around the same week that Ross bought his. I think I posted the forecourt shot in these hallowed pages, but it may have got lost amongst Ross's musings (sorry chap )

Miles/ colours/ armrest of joy?
Grey over black, SE-L spec, around 135k, Lexus ramped and stamped, recent spends, full shooting match of armrest buttons. But sadly, and unlike an RX400h, won't accommodate an incoming labrador Emeye said:
Mini barge - mini engine, but it ticks the rest of the boxes.

These are great, really well built machines. Apart from the majority of the ones I've seen have the rear subframe hanging out of them https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202...

That’s quite amazing reallyIs it just the hybrid Lexus that have the CVT gearbox?
I’m also new to the Labrador experience (she’s 16 weeks old and expanding rapidly) so mentally shopping as always.

Wow, they do seem to be very reliable. I was tempted as a nice 4x4 with reasonable exonomy., but it seems that the hybrid part isn't that useful for mainly motorway miles.Still, clever little car, the RX. Would anyone here actually buy a car from an advert like that? Instant no from me ... Never trust a bulgarian selling a cheapo top notch merc for pittance. We have done this around 6 times and they are full of sh*t but we know what to look for anyway behind their bullsh*t. I'd buy it for £500 and chuck it away when the MOT runs out or give it to MikeKnight.

You could get a 2005 Lexus GS430 for 5k. Looks quite modern.
Or my suggestion for a car that meets all the requirements (note: no comment on reliability):

I think next car on list is this jag. Another 3 hours of drive each side...Or my suggestion for a car that meets all the requirements (note: no comment on reliability):

I went to see the Lexus gs 450.

Plush comfortable seats, luxury filled interiors. Are the seats heated? Not sure. It was raining. I think only bumpers have been repainted, that too not fully. No error symbols. All the buttons and electricals worked, some buttons on centre dash, I couldn't know exactly. Tried the headlight washer, works. 4 new tyres. MOT history isn't much clear. 1 owner used private plate, hence that period MOT history not shown.
The last MOT advisory showed front suspension leak, which has been corrected. I took the pic of the suspension. It has a number- A8510 30A70. G36 R. Is KYB a genuine part brand?
It had Lexus authorised service till 2013. After that Halfords stamps. The most recent one done by this dealer who largely deals with Lexus. Engine oil and filters changed.
Removed engine oil cap and it looks clean without much deposits.
Brake fluid and coolant seems clear though couldn't see flush service info, neither plug change.
Took for a spin on wet roads. Handles like a boat. Upon an exit I gave a stab at throttle for 70%. Cold tyres, wet, large body... Had inside rear wheel spin and slight fishtail. By the time I corrected throttle, traction control came in. If I did the same in 3 series 330i it wouldn't be unstable in that situation. Guess as it has electric motor that power delivery is fast.
It made sounds of poor ball joints or drive shaft on bad patches. Dealer says it's just joint or bush. I'm not sure, who knows if it's steering pinion or coupling or joint or driveshaft.
Dealer says 3 month warranty from handler protect for all breakdown.
https://www.handlerprotect.com/
Asked him how long he had agreement with handler. Said 2 years. Asked how many of his customers used their service. Said none.
I'm bit undecided as of now. Seems good but will jump only after seeing 1 or 2 more cars like jag xf 3.0 to finalise.

Yes, KYB aren't quite a top-tier OEM, but not a million miles behind. They're proper Japanese. I've fitted many KTB shocks and they're fine.I went to see the Lexus gs 450.

Off topic but anyone watching vintage voltage on the quest ch?
No - putting electric motors in classics is a stupid idea. Help the environment they claim? Most classics do just very annual mileage – complete bks.

Sadly no garage, but I do have a carport...
Do you also have a Marjorie? All proper carport owners also have a Marjorie, specialising in Victoria sponge cakes and fear of change.
