Petrol prices- when does the madness end?

I go to Costco Leeds and it's a small diversion from when I'm in the office and never had to wait (unlike at the petrol station in my village which reguarly backs up and blocks the main road.... but anyway).
However, I was told by a colleague that travels in from near Oldham that it is is reguarly 5p/10p cheaper than the Leeds one which might explain the queues.
Went at lunch to fuel up by the Costco next to my workplace in Watford, all lanes were opened because of the queues. Never seen it that bad before, but with like 900 pumps they have it shifts pretty quickly. Only waited about 5 minutes, plus diesel is 10p cheaper than the local petrol stations. However, I was told by a colleague that travels in from near Oldham that it is is reguarly 5p/10p cheaper than the Leeds one which might explain the queues.

I don't think the disparity is as bad as it once was? Your prices must be going up as ours have always been fairly high. You're paying about 60% of what we pay but I seem to remember your cost was once around 25% of ours. Maybe I have it all wrong, got no evidence for this historic comparisons.
The devaluation of the pound has made it look more expensive when you convert it, in 2014 it was 1.71 vs 1.27 today, no doubt it will have increased regardless as ours have though. 75Black said:

Edit. Could actually be 16 pumps. They must have some massive storage tanks.

The Sheffield Costco always seems busy, pretty much queuing back to the Parkway on a weekend, wasn't much shorter when I went on Monday lunchtime, reckon it was 20 minute wait then. That's with 10 or 12 pumps running continuously.
Edit. Could actually be 16 pumps. They must have some massive storage tanks.
I stopped by at Sheffield Costco on Friday to fill up. Once you're past the fuel station exit it would make more sense for people to use both lanes rather than queue in a single file to shorten the queues a little bit.Edit. Could actually be 16 pumps. They must have some massive storage tanks.

Very odd prices locally in Leeds.
My local esso (euro garages/asda brothers) has consistently been the most expensive petrol station outside of motorway services since covid. It’s now turning from esso/spa into esso/asda and is now the cheapest I’ve seen for branded fuel. 1.35 petrol and 1.46 diesel.
Costco Leeds still well down today though:
Then oddly enough, the shell garages near me have all put up their prices this week, standard diesel 1.53

I can fill the bike up at Sainsbury’s by the Blackwall Tunnel for 137p as I travel past when commuting, but the car is rarely out of my home area and costs about 10-11p a litre more.
