Best smoker barges 1-5 large [Vol 16]
Discussion
Just purchased a set of four Goodyear Efficiency Grip performance tyres for the mighty 190e 2.0. Workmates think I'm bonkers but as premium tyres in 15 inch are so cheap at £50 each, why not! Being fitted Monday. Would be interested to read any comments from anyone who's had them before...

Just bought exactly the same for my a124 £196 for four fitted. Makes a change from modern cars at £200 each for anything premium. The Goodyear’s were £50ish each or the ditchfinder kiddykillers were about £35 each, no brainer.

I think some of the more mainstream lower tier tyres are a lot better than they were.
I don't go fast enough for premium tyres but they're not expensive for 15s which pissed me off W201_190e said:

Absolutely, I know my car isn't the last word in power but I can't bring myself to go cheap on tyres!

Had Efficient Grip on the wife's old car and they were fine tbh. Later replaced with BluResponse at a similar price. Similar but less road noise. Let me know what you think of them.

Quality tyres do a lot more than just be better when going fast.
The landsails are very quiet and good in the wet, in the dry not as good pressing on occasionally but that doesn't happen often Edited by ian316 on Friday 3rd July 21:42
It's also worth looking at the braking ability in the wet. I have had a few budget tyres and they aren't bad, but they aren't as good as a premium tyre. Having said that, mid-range tyres these days are very good. I am running Michelins all round at the moment, they seem fine, £150/corner in 18s, so luckily a fair bit cheaper than the £200+ for the 19s on the old 7 series.

I missed out on a nice Jag from our elderly neighbour in a similar fashion.
He'd asked too much really, then let it go for half what he told me was his minimum...
Not a barge, but about 10 years ago a work colleague offered me first refusal of his minty classic Subaru Impreza RB5 that hadn't been dicked around with, for £4k. Being a rally fan and a Richard Burns fan I wanted it so much but I just didn't have the spare cash at the time, and it would have been parked on the street as our house back then didn't have a drive. Even the insurance quote I got was surprisingly cheap. He'd asked too much really, then let it go for half what he told me was his minimum...
I don't know what I was thinking - it would have been a keeper for life and they are becoming rare.
They are fantastic cars, but sadly they suffer from tin-worm in a way that makes early 2000’s Mercedes look well galvanised.
An RB5 is a lovely thing but can and will all too easily dissolve in front of you.
Rover 820 Turbo in resprayed red. Garish. I like it. Mid thread.

No response from the S600TT seller, probably for the best.
This.
Wonder if something fishy is going on.
