Just purchased a set of four Goodyear Efficiency Grip performance tyres for the mighty 190e 2.0. Workmates think I'm bonkers but as premium tyres in 15 inch are so cheap at £50 each, why not! Being fitted Monday. Would be interested to read any comments from anyone who's had them before...

Just bought exactly the same for my a124 £196 for four fitted. Makes a change from modern cars at £200 each for anything premium.

The Goodyear’s were £50ish each or the ditchfinder kiddykillers were about £35 each, no brainer.

Absolutely, I know my car isn't the last word in power but I can't bring myself to go cheap on tyres!

Let me know what you think of them.

3 weeks into lock down I had to pay 176 for 4 landsail was happy but tbh they're not bad, I'd still buy brand tyres normally though

I think some of the more mainstream lower tier tyres are a lot better than they were.

I don't go fast enough for premium tyres but they're not expensive for 15s which pissed me off

This isn't the thread for it, but for me it's not about how quick I go, more how quick I might need to stop just once...

They stop great in the wet I know this from Monday in the pouring rain and a deer on the a15 I wouldn't go a road racing in dry on them oddly though

Had Efficient Grip on the wife's old car and they were fine tbh. Later replaced with BluResponse at a similar price. Similar but less road noise.

Quality tyres do a lot more than just be better when going fast.

The landsails are very quiet and good in the wet, in the dry not as good pressing on occasionally but that doesn't happen often

I had Landsail tyres on my old Corolla, they were replaced by Falkens which were noticeably quieter.

It's also worth looking at the braking ability in the wet. I have had a few budget tyres and they aren't bad, but they aren't as good as a premium tyre. Having said that, mid-range tyres these days are very good. I am running Michelins all round at the moment, they seem fine, £150/corner in 18s, so luckily a fair bit cheaper than the £200+ for the 19s on the old 7 series.

I've had a set of Quatrac 5's on the Panda today, decent rubber's not expensive in ordinary sizes.

I missed out on a nice Jag from our elderly neighbour in a similar fashion.
He'd asked too much really, then let it go for half what he told me was his minimum...
Not a barge, but about 10 years ago a work colleague offered me first refusal of his minty classic Subaru Impreza RB5 that hadn't been dicked around with, for £4k. Being a rally fan and a Richard Burns fan I wanted it so much but I just didn't have the spare cash at the time, and it would have been parked on the street as our house back then didn't have a drive. Even the insurance quote I got was surprisingly cheap.

I don't know what I was thinking - it would have been a keeper for life and they are becoming rare.
Take consolation in the fact that I had a very clean looking Impreza wrx PPP which ended up resting outside for a winter and very quickly turned itself into dust. The thing was totally shot underneath and you could even poke a screwdriver through the suspension turrets. Despite having a current MOT it was sold for parts.
They are fantastic cars, but sadly they suffer from tin-worm in a way that makes early 2000’s Mercedes look well galvanised.
An RB5 is a lovely thing but can and will all too easily dissolve in front of you.

Doesn't sound like it has any current issues and doesn't look rusty!

£4k must be a steal!

I'm sure this was up for sale before, and I was off to view it the next day and it was sold
This, plus -

No response from the S600TT seller, probably for the best.

This.

Wonder if something fishy is going on.
I'm about to undertake the 2 hour drive to Briminam and look at this, armed with ABC knowledge, lots of pessimism, a code reader and a good torch. Stand by for updates and potential forecourt shots whistle
