I was checking my LinkedIn earlier and someone had posted a rant about ethnic minority drivers and van drivers hogging the middle lane. He took some serious stick for it - he's not connected to me but someone I am connected to posted a reply so it showed up.

Further down the post, someone had posted this (copied and pasted);

"I was always lead to believe use lane 3 on the left for slow moving cars etc and when you want to get off the motorway.....Middle lane for 70mph cruising and right lane (fast lane) for over taking the middle lane and then move back in to the middle lane......I feel zig zagging going from lane left, middle, right lanes during a journey is very dangerous as you're moving at very high speed......Tail gating is also very bad and scary for drivers....."

I never truly believed that people thought this, just that they were lazy.
Chap I used to work with always said the same. Despite me with the aid of the HC spelling it out, he insisted that he wasn't going slowly and should therefore be in the middle lane unless entering or leaving the motorway.

Where do people get this bks from?
I can quite believe it. I was on the white line at lights, waiting to go straight ahead, this is a box junction, car opposite indicating to turn right, as I moved off and onto the box to cross, he started his turn, I shouted WTF, what are you doing, he old me he had the right of way, when I asked why, he said "Because I got on the box first".

Then again we have those who hardly move onto the box when turning right, preventing anyone else entering behind them to turn right as well.

I think the comments are correct, she was thinking of making a U turn using the emergency road across the central reservation.

Obviously doesn't use mirrors or look behind..............

So frustrating to read this, and it seems to be the mindset of an awful lot of drivers. In most cases the problem seems to be a lack of education rather than anything else. It's a shame it's taken up until recently for motorway driving to be part of the driving test.

What a dumbass, not sure if a brake check or a selfish attempt to take that turning.

I've been saying it for years and even mentioned it on here; being told that I'm wrong.

Alot of the issue is the "slow" lane and "fast" lane mentality; people don't want to go "slow" on the motorway or "fast" so they stick in the middle lanes as they are neither "slow" or "fast".

The terms "fast" and "slow" lane are used by the press; both written and spoken and I've been heard police news conferences using that term; being said by a policeman, my eldest's driving instructor used those terms too and as long as that terminology is widely being used then things won't change.

Agree, can see smoke off front right tyre. Could it be a bad bias valve (presume they still have something like this, the Mk1 did), or something amiss with the geometry.
