Ouch, RIP CGT...

Seems it was not stolen as the owner has been charged.

"NYPD says the car wasn’t stolen, and that the owner was the driver"

Didn’t even get to court.

You really can do anything if you are rich enough.

You have multiple videos of the crash and the post-crash with clear evidence of the drivers face (and ‘unusual’ behaviour which could be chemical or medically induced) and a near unique car and yet ‘not enough evidence’ to even get to court!!

Compare that to a chap who told a tale online about doing Lands End to John O Groats in a modified Audi A5/S5.

Just seen this on the net.
Didn't know whether to put it here or in the bad parking thread.

a google gave the story - sorry Daily Fail

New Zealand police said officers spotted the car driving at speed on the wrong side of Karamu Rd, in Hastings, on Sunday night and tried to pull it over.

But the driver failed to stop, instead fleeing down Kenilworth Road, Mayfair, where the car hit a patch of gravel at the base of the railway lines and became 'airborne', police said, the NZ Herald reports.

A police spokeswoman said the car launched metres into the air, over a fence, and crashed into the stack of fruit boxes about 12.30am.

For a minute there, I thought the police had boxed it in.

As this is PH, can we assume you were in the Ford?
Indeed... It didn't look very pretty after, and I'd only had it six months.

It does not seem to have held together well in that?
Thats the idea, they crumple so that the occupants dont
Yes that's right. Just seems too much crumple has gone on in that car.
You weren't leaving a car meet by any chance were you? wink

And the guy in an E-class who did not stop at a minor side road, and on the wrong side of the road, and who did a runner, and who may have been drinking

Hope you are ok...looks like a Blackline too?

I loved my GT, seemed like a decent buy but the back end rotted out pretty rapidly and I had to pass it on...04 Plate JTD in black with red leather btw.
Pedalling a Mk5 Golf about now, a GT too and probably a better car but I hardly care about it in relation to the troublesome Alfa...

Ouch. Hope you're ok. Is the GT repairable or as bad as it looks?

The accident was a few years ago now. It was a Q2, and I absolutely loved it.

I had the option to keep it and have it repaired or get the write-off value. I went for the write-off option. And have been tracking it's MOT history where it seems to fail annually on various items almost certainly related to the smash.

On a side note, currently waiting for a GTA wagon to come up for sale .......

Hope you find a decent GTA Wagon...rare and getting pricey these days though...

I bought my GT in a hurry after some bloke in a 5-Series wrote my immaculate 156 TS Veloce off...sadly the GT looked good but was a proper Friday afternoon car in reality...I'd started off in Sud's years ago and this was my 11th Alfa, it sort of broke my enthusiasm for now at least.

Yeah, I was absolutely fine thumbup

It was a few years ago, and I was offered to have it repaired or written-off. I took the cash option after advice from everyone (on PH, Alfa forums, my indie, etc).

Impressive. I have spent some time in Hawkes Bay and that is unsurprising.

I remember once on my way home from work a truck carrying bee hives crashed and there was like thousands all over the road. The police had to stand at each end and make sure everyone had their windows up as they passed through.
