And the money shot:

I thought this merited some cross-postage from our sister thread. Apologies*
*not sorry in the slightest

There has probably been a small explosion somewhere in the middle of a Lincolnshire field of veg.

In other news, the MINI (from a few pages back) has now been delivered to Mrs rejn and she is very happy indeed - apart from driving it home, I haven't driven it yet! She absolutely loves it so my brownie points account is over-flowing. The kids love it, too - despite almost freezing temperatures over the weekend they wanted the roof down everywhere we went!

They are not wrong there.I guess the most positive thing I can find to say is that it would be one of the more characterful £8500 car purchases.

Don't mind modified BMWs, but I don't think those wheels have been very well done - the polished rim with the dull-looking magnesium doesn't work for me.Diesel Meister said:
( ETA: Another, still silver but private sale = higher miles and slightly more sane price of £4k pre-haggle)

Yes, toppy.
That really is base spec.
Cheap(er) tax, too.
Agreed, but pretty much my ideal spec (no frills), other than colour and franchise wallet-violation. Even one owner, low miles cars can be obscene at the moment. This is effectively a niche spec version of a hugely mass produced vehicle (a fleet special if we're honest, the 3er). For £5-6k I'd be very interested though, provided all in order and no big bills lurking. But I guess in reality that might be a £7k car. That really is base spec.
Cheap(er) tax, too.
At that price you might as well spend more and get something else I guess.
/Goes back to hunting 986s
I still see them as value at 7k. I prefer mine to a Boxster, for sure. Coupe worth a look, too.

MattOz had the front to sell "mine" to someone else when he'd done with it
In many ways that's a good thing, I think. However, I do miss the snarl of the cold start in the garage. And the ferocity with which is approached the redline.
The sad truth is I collected it at the weekend, drove it home and (due to being wiped out by a bug these last three days) haven't driven it since. MattOz had the front to sell "mine" to someone else when he'd done with it

But its enthusiasm for the redline is just as I (and you) remember. And the steering feels wonderfully direct (ETA: and not just in comparison to the Defender...). And it looks lovely.
I just need to find some time to drive it. But for now, it is sitting downstairs looking like this:

ETA. I found the steering much better than the standard M3. Actually, to the extent if I had a standard one I'd probably have to find a way to retro fit.

ETA. Looking at those rims. I quite like them. Was considering a swap to the Si's BBS jobs but those would be much cheaper.

Oddly appealing choice if you need four seats, if extra strong money (for my taste - no idea about values of E90s but suspect this sort of spec was rare and is increasingly so as time went on):

I have a later 325i SE of similar spec which still has the 3.0 but with some of the addenda not included so a lower state of tune at about 220bhp. I love it for the mix of station car park anonymity (debadged as option) and 7k rpm goodness. I bought it as a stop-gap on returning to the UK last year and apart from some initial trouble with my back and the sports seats it has been faultless and I think it will stay. ![](http://img.pistonheads.com.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/LargeSize/bmw/3-series/330i-se-4dr/bmw-3-series-330i-se-4dr-153374805-1.jpg)
