£11 a litre for concentrate? Jesus that's ridiculous.
I bet it's good to know it's all done mind!
I wasn't paying that, I used generic pre-mixed stuff from ECP (says its ok for alloy engines). Not ideal but I can't see it doing any damage in the time I aim to get from the car (a year or two). The rad was in too poor condition to leave so I thought I would do the lot while in the garage for a few hundred more. Got a suspension clonk now. I bet it's good to know it's all done mind!

Been around for a while. And yes - galactic mileage. Over 200k if memory serves.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C531135

And it's in Chesham, which (like Croydon, Keighley and "near Heathrow") always seems to be a place from which cars should not be bought.
Dear beards of bork, please cast your eyes over this... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014... ...and tell me the worst. My w210 is about to meet it's maker and after a monumental bout of man maths that has got the other half totally confused I've been given permission to gaze longingly at S classes. Is a 2005'er far enough away from the tin worm, the vendor assures me it is immaculate, or should I look elsewhere?....

My thoughts - I wouldn't want to risk that much on one.
I saw a lovely looking S320 petrol for sale (in Oxford IIRC) for £2000 not long ago, the owner had splashed loads on having the air suspension refurbed - that's the big one. The 3.2 petrol and gearbox combo is relatively simple and strong so I would have one in preference to the diesel. Neither are exactly going to be frugal.
As for rust, it either is or isn't. Try to really pin a seller down over the phone to avoid wasting your time.

Should have mentioned that I have a 120 mile commute each day, 90% of which is dual carriageway so I'd always opt for a diesel anyway. The car is North of Luton and I'm near Margate so I'll have to take a trip I guess. Always seem to travel half way round the country when looking for cars, there's never the right one just around the corner.
Re the Merc diesels - I kicked the tyres of a CLS diesel yesterday. 55 plate 320 CDi. Wouldn't start at all. Churned over by me and the salesman for a good five minutes, felt like it had run out of fuel, then started fine, apart from a cloud of smoke you could probably see from space. And enough dashboard lights to make even a Citroen owner cry.
When was the car last started? The day before.
Petrol every time for me I think.

I bought a car yesterday, and collected it today. This one:
There are a couple of little things I'll get seen to in due course, but for now I'm enjoying the rather nice sound of 8 cylinders.
The other sound I may have to get used to is the howl of rage when Madame deG returns tomorrow to find it on the drive. I suspect she may take the, wholly unreasonable, view that these things are to be discussed before being bought pretty much on a whim, leaving us with a total now of 2 124s and a 129.
The plan - insofar as there is one - is to run the SL and the 124 Cabrio for a while, then make a decision about which one has to go; I already know it's not going to be easy (first world problems, and all that).

That works...up to a point. - standard PH response.
But that also ensures that your browny-point credit-rating remains poor and sullied until you've rectified the situation (i.e sold soemthing).
As someone who has lived for years with such a toxic credit-rating believe me one does sometimes long to be rehabiliated into the family community.
Hello everyone, long time watcher of this thread but 1st time poster.
Its time for someone else to enjoy my lovely car, but I'm struggling to get a good idea of it's value.
Its a well looked after 2003 XJ6 (X350) with 47k and FJSH - there aren't many similar examples on the market it seems, mainly cars with much higher mileages. It is BRG with sand leather & walnut interior if that makes any difference. The chap at the MoT station was really admiring it but even he couldn't give a decent estimate on what it was worth.
Any ideas?

The choice is going to be a tricky one now?

Thanks Derin, and to everyone else for the compliments. The choice is going to be a tricky one now?
The fact is that the 124 cab and the SL are quite different cars but, as you especially know having seen it, the cab is a particularly nice (and just about perfectly-working) example and I'm not sure I want to sell it just yet. The key issue is that I have to move house sometime between this Christmas and summer next year to a place with no garaging, so it may have to go in any case to save it from the elements. Decisions, decisions...
On the plus side, being left with a 500 SL is hardly having to reduce my expectations too much!

The values seem to depend on the options it has, as well as servicing, mileage etc. If it's got nav, xenons, the alpine stereo and rear entertainment system I'd say £6k, maybe even a little more if it's got decent wheels spec'd.Its time for someone else to enjoy my lovely car, but I'm struggling to get a good idea of it's value.

I've seen pre facelift X350s go for as low as £3k and as much as £12k - I paid £4.5k for mine around a year and a half ago with much higher mileage, but with a desirable colour combo and options, and I've been offered more than what I paid several times since.
Alpina B10 3.3 touring.
No interior pics and a little leggy but Spanish, a nice spec and cheap. Looks tidy on my phone.
Also like the 911 in the background, hope it's the vendors.
In good condition.
