Have just seen 1 L on a Toyota Landcruiser on the M6 this afternoon.

Have a photo but not a particularly good one!

HEADS UP FOR THE COLLECTORS: DVLA are stopping renewing registration certificates if they have expired.
If you have any that have expired get them sent in now along with the backdated renewal fees or you will have worthless pieces of paper.

Do you mean the retention certificate? If you do, are they still valid 10 years?

Yeah, but if it's been held for 9 years surely the dvla will charge you 10yrs of fees to put it on? Not sure.

Just to clarify then: If your retention certificate is in date then you don't need to worry. However, in the past if you let it lapse you could send a nice letter in to the DVLA explaining that George your pet gerbil had died and you'd taken it hard, and forgotten all about the renewal of the registration. As long as you paid the outstanding renewal fees you were ok. However, they are going to stop doing this, so if you don't renew your registration by the expiry date you'll loose it.
