It will mostly be forgotten soon.
This is the internet sonny.
I love these diesel threads! but back on topic.. I think what is happening with the touring cars both wtcc and btcc is quite interesting and causing quite a bit of difficulties and dissagreements with the rule makers and manufacturers.
The performance difference can be seen clearly with cars having comparable ballpark weights.
Despite the petrol engined cars with 270-280 bhp and 8500 rpm they are still inferior to the diesels power acceleration and outright speed.
It may be a possibility that BMW could be binning the magnificent sounding petrol 320si for a diesel version if they want to win. Andy Prilliax has been testing it and has been going mad that they have not used it, he states it is "really quick" and I belive him.
I personally hope the petrol wins the day but I feel the writing is on the wall.
For the road cars I belive BMW have a new basic 3.0 single turbo 6 pot diesel coming out in a few weeks with 245bhp (+14 bhp over its predicessor) with 520nm of torque (+20nm over predecessor) giving 0-62 mph in 6.1 seconds in a 330d, not a bad improvement by any means but then when you take into account that the mpg has improved from 46.3mpg to 49.6mpg and Co2 has gone from 160g/km to 152g/km shows quite an advancement inho. Any petrols making similar progress?

Not reading the whole thing.......2 questions please.
1. Did anyone save the videos elsewhere?
2. WTF does a 24 yr old do to have 40k+ to blow on a car?
I have a 21 year old friend who earns over £40,000 per year and he left school at 15. He's a carpenter.1. Did anyone save the videos elsewhere?
2. WTF does a 24 yr old do to have 40k+ to blow on a car?
...probably before and after...

What do you mean 'back on topic'? That wasn't the topic! The performance difference can be seen clearly with cars having comparable ballpark weights.

His dad gave it to him. Oh, sorry, I mean he 'purchased' it off his dad...Come on - if you were in his position, wouldn't you take the car ? I know I would - having said that I was never given owt as a kid, due to my dad being a tight b'stard
