I was going to be very positive about this car but then saw the price. Even allowing for these strange times, that's an 'optimistic' pitch at 10% over max. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-80-convertible-cab...
Much more appealing rag top to me than a 3 series, baby Merc, Saab or Volvo though.
When my eldest daughter turned 18 and got her driving licence I bought her one of those (2.6 I think) as her first car whilst all her mates were getting new Suzuki Swifts, Renault Clios, etc. They laughed at her and she was a bit 'oh Daaaad, why did you buy me that?', until the sun came out.

My only concern is the red car symbol on the idrive screen. Yellow means minor fault, red means major. May potentially be a missed service or MOT on the system, but definitely needs checking out. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303958035139
I wonder how long it'll be before the F01 comes into thread in petrol form... The diesels are in the 7s already. This looks pretty good for 10 bags:

The F01s are dropping now... My pals bought a 730D, 2010 plate, it's done 143k miles, but one owner (ex-BMW manager) and it's absolutely immaculate; the bodywork is stunning, not a dent at all anywhere, no corrosion and the interior hasn't been sat in by the looks of it...
He was some sort of training manager, so up/down the m'ways every day up until lockdown...
My pal got it for £7.5k! Jammy git!

So close and yet so far from a nice interior - light coloured door and dash tops (eurgh), and prosthetic leg steering wheel.

Hard to believe that's only a couple of years newer than my 221, it seems to much more modern. I'd be on the phone to them now about that car if it weren't for the terrible reputation for durability that engine has.I wonder how long it'll be before the F01 comes into thread in petrol form... BMW know these things are an absolute disaster - they want £3,300 a year for a warranty.

That's very handsome indeed. A challenge for the threadistes. Name me an exterior colour for the R129 that isn't well appointed. To me, they didn't seem to put a foot wrong, but then, I'm no beard in this field.
I'd agree, however the other day I was admiring an R129 in exactly that colour and when Ms Stickleback turned up she took one look and commented on what a hideous car it was, and I suspect a lot of non car people might share that sentiment, hence my supposition that values of the R230 will ultimately overtake those for the R129.d_a_n1979 said:

Note that that isn't an Almandine special edition as the seller claims - those were, well, Almandine Black in colour with 2-tone leather and dark wood. 1 of 50 special edition run out carsAt closed to 40 I still do but it would have to be the S2

Is that cheap for a high mileage soot chucker at 11 years old? Can't say it feels very bargainous (by UK standards) to me, notwithstanding the pandemic-tax. My pal got it for £7.5k! :

But having had the Lexus for, what, about 17-18 months now, I've totally been put off BMW. I suspect that 7, despite being newer, would cost way more to run than the LS460.
I was looking at my mileage the other day, I really should sell it, probably. Since October last year it's done a little over 1k miles. Works out around 2500 miles/year at the moment. £50/month tax, £450/year insurance etc is quite a lot for so few miles.
It is rather nice though!
Someone please bid on this before I end up winning it.

Needs 2 new badges (back and rear), a good interior clean, a paintless dent removal and it's good to go!

Some of the 2 tone paints schemes are bit off. Certainly wouldn't have bought this myself.Dapster said:

Not much choice in 225/60/15, so went with new Contis at a frankly ridiculous £130 a corner...
Softened slightly by Aston Martin Works allowing me to supply my own oil saving me £200 on an upcoming service on the Vantage.
Aston tax? Never heard of it...

Agree they look lovely, I think they're one of the better looking 7s and that much power with the 8 speed box would be wonderful. Quicker than a 760 E65.

Beard alert - only the 760 model had the 8spd box until after the LCI in ‘13 where it became standard. The one above would have the same 6spd box as the E65.But having had the Lexus for, what, about 17-18 months now, I've totally been put off BMW. On a personal level, I don’t like this F01 generation - it’s too bland for such a physically imposing car & so I’d skip a generation & go for the G. While I’m sure that it’s (the F01) no doubt a better car overall than mine, I just don’t want one, in the same way that I do, for the current model (pre grille-gate, obvs)!
