No way is it a 1990's shell, no way.

The idea is to report them to eBay and Police Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service.

With a couple of screen grabs and supporting email.

https://navcis.police.uk/

eBay have been a bit slack of late so I'll be emailing them a polite reminder later. wink

it always helps reporting illegal things or make them public.

over the time authorities will become aware about it and/or dealers/sellers of such items become afraid.

imo even sellers / dealers names should be published...but unfortunately this is against this forums policy
...and some forum members throw their toys out of the pram, posts get deleted and I get emails from one moderator saying...

"Keep this up and you will be banned from the forum"

...and a follow up email from a more senior moderator...

"Sorry about that. He's new".

Topic removed, what was it?
An online petition to advance road safety for recovery vehicles.

Removed regrettably due to a rule 20 violation.

the 2 I reported to eblag were never removed.
They have been getting a little lackadaisical lately. That's why I've moved it up a notch or two.

I just got an interesting email from eBay.

First of all they thank everyone for our efforts.

If we report the ringing kit listings under the government documents and licenses section as well as or instead of the "other criminal" section...

https://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/government-...

...they will consider review it more meticulously.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/questions/ho...

We'll see. smile

copyright eBay I asked and obtained permission to share the image for guidance purposes.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Defender-Log-Book/19235...

Those three have been reported under the new guidelines. Theses three the old way.

I'll be checking to see if they get removed, how quickly and what method worked quickest.

Should be fun.

Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition. Don't forget to share around social media and other forums.

Good evening.

As a follow up to your suggestion I chose six of the several hundred unlawful listings on eBay. I reported three as facilitating crime and three as government documents.

None were removed, three are still running, two ended and one has been sold.

This Morris Minor...

https://www.facebook.com/jane.fanner/posts/1827593...

...was stolen recently and thanks to V5C and VIN tags being sold on your site the owner will probably never see it again.

If that car or any other has a new identity on it purchased by one of the thousands fenced through your site you are instigating the facilitation by allowing these illegal sales to continue.

Do you have a press office I can contact so when I make my report they can get a quote or official statement from your organisation please?

All the best LK
Could be worth a try.

Here's a good one.

1981-1983 Mk1 Fiat Panda registered as a 1990 Mk2 Panda CLX

Passed the MOT less than a month ago. scratchchin

Even left hand drive it's worth a lot more with the age correct registration. I think this has been imported and ringed to avoid DVLA hassle.

Authorities aware.

Is there a genuine reason for anyone to buy / sell a VIN plate and V5 doc?

Maybe I am being stupid.....
No. The V5C is the property of the DVLA and has to be returned to them when the vehicle is disposed of. Not only is that part of the Vehicle Licensing and Registration Act but it is also theft.
