Quite, but as a form of assuring a particular standard of clientele, it simply doesn't work in the modern era.

Dress codes solve absolutely nothing, imo.

why is he wearing a mask on his chin?
If you're constantly taking it on and off, some folk prefer to just pull it down instead of taking it off completely. Wouldn't be me, but there you go.

I thought that might have been obvious, but apparently not.
No not at all obvious. In fact feckin stupid if you think about it as bacteria, dirt etc will end up inside the mask which is far from ideal.

Mind you it would be nice to think of natural selection at work.

I checked LLF instagram and couldn't see anything. Is there another part to instagram that I (the noob) wouldn't know about?
Go to LLF main page then click on the round LLF logo top left.

Thanks for that - I realise by not having an instagram account it doesn't let me click on that circle. It comes up with a logon box.

Good to see he is alive. I know it isn't popular to say on here, but I always liked Ricky's videos. Bit crazy with his risky on the road driving which is hard to support but overall, I liked the chap as he went on his journey. I was really surprised that he ended up in such a rowdy day at vmax. You would have thought after the first negative situation that you pack up and head off just to protect the brand name you have been building.

RW
I agree. Aside from squinting like a moron every time he sails past 100mph on public roads I have always been a fan of his stuff and have been watching since the C6 RS6 vid. He produces good quality content and seems like a genuine car enthusiast that isn't too bad behind the wheel. I'm not a fan of the tracksuits and chavy talk from time to time but I don't see him as bad bloke by any means.

As for DMO he does make me laugh, but he's clearly fking nuts.

It still has a place. Half the scrotes won’t turn up and the other half that do will find far fewer people to have a beef with.

You’ll never completely stop the rutting types as they exist across all social and economic strata but things like dress codes still have great ability to temper behaviour.

I’m not advocating dress codes for run wot u brung events but merely suggesting it still has merit in limiting both the number and the behaviour of the typical male douchebag.

From personal experience, I flat out don't believe dress codes make one iota of a difference.

It's an antiquated notion that simply doesn't work as social filter, now more than ever.

Are you saying that if everyone was wearing Bernie Clifton ostrich outfits the mood wouldn’t have been any different? wink

I can’t see many of the chavs from that video turning up if lounge suits were required.

Bearing in mind it's a live base with armed guards and you have to be checked in and show ID to get in and be checked off a list, I can't see this happening again even if people wearing cravats turn up.
The fools with "beef" will you'd imagine be banned now, and bearing in mind everyone else there behaved impeccably at all previous events it's a non issue going forward you'd assume.

Indeed but you are attempting to apply logic when people are making jokes, like an actuary in the audience trying to explain to their neighbour the logic error of a joke.

Behind this Micky taking is the cold hard reality that the purpose of dress codes is precisely to exclude or limit a certain type and ensure a more homogenous group that has a lower chance of causing friction to the point of undesirable behaviour while at the same time a dress code will serve to more focus and orientate guests attention.

I don’t imagine a dress code at these sorts of events would be remotely viable due to the very wide gamut of people attending. Such events usually use ticket pricing to segregate groups or take deposits but it’s hard to see any normal solution being all that viable.

And ultimately, the organisers want these people in attendance. In the run up to the event these people considerably lower the average cost of sales and after the event they lower the cost of sales for next year’s event. Once an event gets to a certain maturity or size then these people become essential to bringing in enough customers to cover the burgeoning costs.

The only effective deterrent would be the organisers publicly asking those people not to darken their doors again but no one can take the risk of the backlash whether it be financial or the social media braying mob.

All that will happen is the commercial case for a competitor to set up a smaller, more exclusive event becomes a litrle stronger. People will pay more to go to that and avoid rutters and their acolytes and eventually that event will expand to numbers where carpark rutting is inevitable.

Saw someone saying something earlier on vmax fb page about llf, no idea who that was, still dont.
If it's who i think it is, he made a video on Youtube moaning and whinging about how unfair BMW were because they pulled his PCP deal after he tuned the living daylights out of the M4 he got from them, then put a video up on Youtube detailing exactly what he had done.
The general gist of his video was along the lines of " i dont think this is right, how can they do this to anyone" "i didn't realise i couldn't modify a car on a PCP deal, don't get caught out like i did" blah blah.

I lost interest after about 15 minutes of his rambling so i have no idea how it ended up.

I think someone lent him the cash to pay the loan outright and then he raffled the car. Not sure if the winner kept it or sold it, Ricky said he had a buyer waiting with 60k if he wanted to sell it instead.
