Leaper aside that is highly tempting, checking the trains it's £100 to get down to Bracknell from near Chester... Ludicrous.I'll mull it over today.
He sounds very keen to get shot of it and has been messed around so I think there is likely to be wiggle room in that price if you turn up with a handful of cash.

It does look good doesn't it? The ABS and restricted performance issues will likely be an easy fix for a few hundred, but that vibration between 50 to 70 could be a pain to track down and don't rule out the possibility that it's an issue with the torque converter.

I think I could break it for spares and get most of the cash back, so worst case smoke it about for a month until the ticket runs out and take the desirable bits off and weight it in.

Don't wish for that that! it's the demand for fuel that keeps the price down.
Is this completely true? Oil will always be pumped out of the ground even if transportation isn't the primary industry (for instancebplastics, and a load of other industries I'm sure). If your distilling crude (or whatever the correct term is) petrol is one of the by-products. Less demand for similar-ish supply should equal cheaper fuel but I appreciate there are a number of other factors that have a bearing on this, maybe even a more significant bearing than i have considered. How do others assess the situation?
It carries a lot less tax overall than road fuel and its retail price therefore is far more sensitive to variations in the oil price. It is nevertheless a lot more expensive at the retail level than UK retail car petrol. The pre-tax price is therefore something like double that of car fuel.
AVGAS is expensive mostly
- because compared to car fuel it is made in pharmaceutical rather than industrial quantities
- because it has to kept, distributed and stored entirely separately from road fuel for its entire distribution, and all this is fiddly and expensive for the industry.
The bulk of it still uses tetra-ethyl lead and alcohol is not permitted in it. So yes, it
Mini barge for you Merc lovers. MOT history looks encouraging.

They certainly drive like a barge. They feel like a cramped X308 to drive, with worse visibility. I'd be amazed if that isn't completely done in at that mileage, unless there is an inch thick pile of receipts for suspension work and a gearbox rebuild.
The fact their service history for the car starts over 16 years ago and goes backwards from there does not fill me with confidence that this inch of receipts will be present.
It has obviously belonged to someone who has spent money on cosmetics though; it has XKR vents and tailpipes and a facelift boot plinth. You never know, you could strike gold, but with 200k on the clock I'd want that for pocket money as there is a lot of choice for £5k.

Agree. Shiny but I can make just about anything shiny in a day. It's not a particularly attractive proposition with the fakery and mega miles. £3k for me.The fact their service history for the car starts over 16 years ago and goes backwards from there does not fill me with confidence that this inch of receipts will be present.

It looks OK, but the purist in me thinks that's a bit manky.
As noted, the SH in the ad is bizarre. Surely you wouldn't start with SH from 2002 and work backwards?
I don't share the enthusiasm for the Rover 76 unfortunately.
Around 10ish years ago I owned the MG ZT variation of it and engine choices aside I found it quite small inside, especially given it looks quite large from outside, the rear seats were particularly restricted for space and I found the boot (saloon version) Quite an awkward shape really which made carrying anything remotely bulky impossible.
Mine was a victim of a rear end shunt in the end and I was quite pleased to see the back of it.

Blimey, they are getting close to our grubby little bottom-feeding end of the market. There's something very laissez-faire about a seller that can't be bothered to wipe off the bird st before the photo shoot.
