Oh aye.Replica of Rohrl's '79 RAC car if I remember correctly. The year after Walter placed the navigator square in the back of the 131 to try and gain some traction for the event

Impala with a 5.7? Was the car in 'Drive' iirc.
Nope. Good guess though.bmthnick1981 said:
An Impala. Thought the 'fast ones' of those had a 6.2 v8 but the front bumper should look different, or it does on US spec cars?
Nope. But closer on the donkey...braddo said:
Holden Commodore with a Chevy badge
6.2L V8 as someone mentioned earlier - LS3?
Soooo close! But still not right. Top beardage though. I'll give you handful of manpoints for that one.6.2L V8 as someone mentioned earlier - LS3?
I'll put you all out of your misery; It is actually a Middle East spec one of these:
So it is technically a left hand drive Holden Commodore, but but in the US, the Caprice gets a 6.0 donkey, (therefore a slightly downgraded LS3 lump, a la Corvette) and softer suspension etc. Somewhat inexplicably however, for the ME spec cars, they bin all the schnitz, to create possibly the most mundane looking car imaginable (save for the four very discreet exhausts poking out the stern), but yet retain the V8 donkey.
This means two things:
1. it looks like any base-spec rental Chevy
2. don't try and out-run the Police in the US.
Which makes it in my book, just about the greatest q-car of all time. Power output is officially 360bhp, but it feels a st-site quicker than that. Imagine an E92 M3 with four big blokes in it and you're just about there. Given the humble beige velour pews that you sort of sit neither on or in; the plastic rimmed steering wheel and the cheap 'infotainment' system, the violence of the performance is even more startling.
And to contain all this rampant power? That'll be the 245 section Goodyear Eco tyres then… Needless to say traction is not something this peculiar beastie has in abundance, which naturally makes traffic light getaways utterly, hilarious.
Only the lack of LSD prevents the Caprice LTZ (to give it its full title) from being a true hooligan (stepping on the loud pedal mid U-turn simply generates a military grade smoke screen and not much else), but all told, it's actually a bit of a hero. Sure, it won't go round corners, but out here, that's a moot point anyway. All that matters is that it's big, comfy, extremely fking fast and it's not mine
Toodles.

That is how to write an ad. The only concern would be what history did it have prior to this guy, as he's written a comprehensive ad but not mentioned it.Impreza WRX 5dr with PPP

... Caprice ...
Interesting. It must be that they want to offer a longer wheelbase basic car in the Mid East (a bit like China, I guess), due to it being more common to be driven. The Holden Statesman and Caprice are to the Commodore what the Ford Fairlane is to the Falcon - same basic car but usually with a slightly longer wheelbase (historically the wagon's or ute's wheelbase) and chinzted up with different bodywork and more chrome. I guess that is what the Chevy Caprice has always been to the Impala.
Example from the 90s:
commodore:
Statesman:
Caprice (more luxurious version of the Statesman):

I watched a bit of this while at an Oulton track day once and I saw a couple of bumps into the tyres, so the Merc's appearance is not an uncommon one! It does look good fun though. Now there's tempting. But cripes could the interior be any more mundane? (I know that's not their point, but still).

On a completely different note, this looks like a cute wee thing for a couple of grand:
I like the wider front wheels!

I could see this being a fun money pit - I'd want wider back wheels, then I'd want to completely update the engine, brakes, suspension to Cooper S spec!
Having said that, it could be a hiding to nothing, as I have no idea how much extra weight is in all the fins nonsense at the back end...
