But probably 100 times more likely to have crash at 30 than 90!!

Back on topic, still a little surprised at the police actually catching him out at 12.45 PM on what is essentially a straight road. Out of Nairn heading to Inverness the stretch is probably 6-8 miles long, with only 1 junction it. Begs the question why were the Police actually in the vicinity.......had they been tipped off ??
I reckoned before, probably looking for drunk drivers there. And, there are way more than 1 junction if you include minor roads, houses and farm roads - together with the sawmill.

The problem is you don't always get it right where that risk will not increase though.
And as long as nobody suggests that on a particular occasion I got it wrong without first considering all the facts so they can be sure that on that occasion I did not, in fact, get it right, I don't have a problem.
We have been discussing this case, with many people arguing it is a case where the driving was of a good enough standard.
I've never argued that. I've argued that knowing only that he was doing 127mph is not sufficient to conclude the driving was not of a good enough standard.

The only comments I've made on this case are that it was night time and when I picture a piece of road on which I think I might feel comfortable at that sort of speed I picture it in daylight and good visibility, and that if you're going to argue that superior skills ought to be taken into account I think the skills that are relevant to road driving are observation, anticipation and planning - hazard perception and the driving plan - more than race experience or car control skills. I'm not in a position to make any more comment on this particular case because I don't have any more facts.
