Any update OP? When is collection day?
Apologies for the long delay in updating.

Unfortunately there is no collection day for me. After having a good long think about it with a cool head, i decided that i did not want to buy it.

When spending such a large sum of money i feel that i should have what i ordered. This with the fact that they offered something as compensation and then went back on it, along with the appalling customer service made me decide i'd be better off buying something else.

I'd like to thank all of you once again for your comments and support on this matter.

I agree 100% with this.

Can you now expand on the compensation that was offered and then retracted?

What are you going for then?

Good on you for making that decision and not putting up with the way you were treated.

Such a shame that your dream was tarnished. However, I guess it shows that customers are simply a number wherever you go.

Did you get your deposit back etc.?

OP they played you like an ukulele. Can I suggest you tell them to suck a big one? It's just a car with some tat stuck on.

Can't say I really blame you, it does sound like Aston have really messed up here.

Although from their point of view they will be laughing that they can sell the car for far more than they originally thought.

What's going to be the replacement?

The right decision in my opinion. Personally I would've been tempted to buy it and just immediately flip it, on general principal, but I can understand why you wouldn't have found this palatable when it was (is?) your dream car.

If you had gone ahead with it, and kept it, I think you would've always been looking at it through the prism of what it should've been. Settling for a different colour, or a missing option on your wish list, is alright on a regular car I think, but definitely not on a brand new dream car.

Shame on Aston really.

Well done OP on sticking to your guns, such a shame a dream has been shattered.

Aston Martin need to have a good long look at themselves.

Complete agree with this, and pleased that, from the tone of the post, you have finally rationalised and reached a decision with which you are happiest, given that you were placed in, frankly, a very unenviable position.

Aston Martin have gone down in my estimation, not that they care.

I really don't see how hard it would have been for them to knock out another one to the right spec.
Yes it's a nuisance but the customer gets what he ordered and probably becomes an ambassador for the brand - probably what they were seeking with their anti flipper attitude in the first place.

Because then everyone else who bought one cries that they were promised there'd only be X number of cars and now there's X+1.
See the fiasco with McLaren and the 675LT > 675LT Spider.

But there needn't have been X+1. The original one could have been disappeared into the parts bin.
As for collector and flipper fiascos and limited editions generally - I find the whole thing a little pathetic all round to be quite honest.

I think this option was taken away from op as Aston refused to sell the car to him. Incredible.

After the everything you've been through I imagine it's quite satisfying to be rid of the stress.

Having said that, I would have bought it and flipped it straight away. Whilst I absolutely detest that whole practice, the thought of knowing that the dealership will profit from their mistake by selling it to the highest bidder would really boil my piss.

I'm not sure what i will go for at the moment.

I only want a manual so my choices are limited.

Possibly a 911R if prices drop once deliveries of the new GT3 start.
