I've had a 2002 V40 2.0t for the last 7 years or so - manual though. I've taken it from just over 100,000 to 225,000 with no major issues over regular servicing (2 cambelts). A few minor problems have come up like fuel pressure regulator, binding caliper, corroded brake lines, broken springs, corroded shocks, a couple of little electrical gremlins starting to appear, but it's been a great car overall - still going strong.

I get around 34mpg doing mostly motorway miles.

Picked up a V70 2.4T manual yesterday - over thread budget though so won't show it off here

Just bought this today for my wife to learn to drive in. £200. No MOT and needs a couple of types but looks great. Feeling really chuffed with that as I never seem to get a bargain!

Hopefully does just need tyres - it's strong money for a 206 with no test in my opinion....

I suppose that's why it was cheap. I see a rust free car with good engine and gearbox the rest (suspension, brakes,tyres) are cheap to replace consumables. Also where I live, the Scottish Borders there's not the choice you may have in a greater populated area.

Parts for those are so cheap it comical. Disks, pads and two lower arms for less than £150. Easy enough to to work on too. Any working car for less than £200 is a win tbh

lots of cars that would have been scrapped are being sold with no MOT, mate got offered £2 for a 57 plate megane.

the only thing that worries me about 206s would be the rear beam and rear electrics, seen many with the brake lights constantly on.

Two tyres, a drop link, front discs and a couple of brake pipes. Pretty happy with that.

This is why I can't buy old cars, people like you steal all the good luck! If that was me it would need a new gearbox, engine, body and flux capacitor. Then the police would stop me and tell me it's stolen and I'm going to jail.

I know of an Alfa Romeo 147 1.6 Twin Spark with no MOT that the guy will take £100 for. He told me it needs two new tyres and a patch of welding. He will do the welding for not much (less than £100 certainly).

Whether it would fail on other things too I can't say.
