When at school a friend's dad had JCO1 on his Jag, story was that John Conteh had wanted to buy off him when he was world champion but my my friends dad didn't sell.

A stunning old school Mercedes with an interesting plate in Belgravia today.

The noise from the engine was fantastic.

The twin, SSS 555, often buzzed around in Bristol on an Abarth, but I think I saw it on a 911 more recently.

Could both belong to the same guy?

I’ve posted elsewhere about my recent purchase. Did a bit of digging, couldn’t believe I could get this from DVLA stock for ~£400 plus the bits.

Certainly not in the league of a 2x2 or similar but I think a decent fit…

Haven’t they always been an expensive indulgence? I remember looking at plates in the back of the telegraph or auto car when I was a kid in the 1980’s and thinking some of the best ones were the price of a great car.
The decent plates have always been expensive, I paid £2500 for mine back in 1997

PH detective work, you can't beat it wink

'3 YD' spotted again locally on a 2007 black Mitsubishi yesterday, parked in the same spot where I usually see a Pug with the plate '3 P'.
3 P is now on a Mini. If 2 P is up for sale at just shy of £450k I'm guessing 3 P is in the same league.

They would be a nice matching pair if they were owned by the same person.

S1LLY on a Fiat 500 in Cambridge today.

Great plate, but with some silly spacing...Arguably worth more than the car it is on, seemed like a standard model.

As above, one of the better school dad registrations at my school was the dad of a younger girl who had 1JG on a Testarossa, 1988. Cool dad, too.

£16,000.00 +bits in the December 1992 auction. Good judgement if he bought it then! Criminal price if he bought it now,!
