So the one being sold has no V5 or ID plates whatsoever but reading the q&a section it appears he, handily enough, just happens to have the V5, VIN & chassis plates from another car that was scrapped available rolleyes

Some bright spark has used an old Dutton plate presumably from a scrapped Dutton and simply switched the identity onto this car thus appearing as a Dutton, which as an current owner of two Duttons and former owner over of a dozen Duttons in the past, it most certainly is not. The car is clearly not a Dutton but probably a Bitsa/Locost/Locust/Haynes/Champion amalgam which has no connection whatsoever with the Dutton it is represented to be. The DVLA/Vosa should be onto this. Hopefully!

who are we reporting these to?

I usually send a link via the crime stoppers report a crime anonymously web page .

https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give...

I don't want Ebay to take them down until PLOD has been round and got all the evidence they need for a conviction, unfortunately I have no idea of the outcomes of the many links I have sent.

ACPO AVCIS - http://avcis.police.uk/

They deal specifically with vehicle-related crime.

When I began reporting them, one of the officer asked me to use the following e-mail address.

Vehicle Fraud - intel@avcis.pnn.police.uk

Perhaps not strictly illegal, but this is never going to see the road again. As for using it for a re-shell, the shell is the only thing there. There are no other parts to use from it. confused

To be fair the car on eBay looks ropy at best. If it were to come apart and kill the driver/passenger/cue of people waiting for a bus/etc. The last thing Dutton needs is...

If you use a Heritage brand new shell (which are available), you can transfer the ID across quite legally.

This is a whole different issue again. A brand new shell with new parts (as there aren't any with the shell) put together on someone's driveway without an SVA without an IVA. Heritage shell builds should be treated the same as kit cars but sadly the legislation can't keep up and most M.O.T centers can't tell a resorted car from a reshell anyway so it's a mute point.

Just how can a new shell with new parts be considered an old car because a two by three inch aluminium plate says so is beyond me.

Sorry chaps see my Alfa 145 thread to explain my mood today.

The ruse of registering non compliant Kit Cars by cloning old kit cars is clearly growing. This "Robin Hood" is another actually registered as a Dutton. See http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Robin-Hood-/141014722401...

It should clearly have been SVA/IVA'd and by cloning the car as a Dutton all the safety checks have been ignored. I urge buyers of kit cars to be very cautious of correct registration. This is clearly a growing problem. I have been offered and refused such clones and I see this much more than I like. The unsuspecting buyers are simply fooled into buying a vehicle that cannot legally be used on the road. Bad news for all kit car enthusiasts and most of all the buyers who lose out!
