What is happening at EVO magazine?

It's good but the longstanding theme of "which car can we say isn't as good as a 911" seems to have re-emerged. This month is' the R8, last month it was an Evora.
What can you say - they're 911 people. It's possible that the first question in any interview for a role there is "do you like the 911?" Well, except for Vivian who appears to have discovered he's descended from italian stock...
Run with that bias and accept that their mileage might not be yours...there are worse faults a magazine could have - Robert Coucher, for one!

I see that John Barker has also started writing for Octane, presumably to replace Meaden who seems to have permanently gone over to Motorsport.
I hope that isn't the case, Meaden's one of the top writers at EVO. However, I did notice that the only thing he has written in this months edition is his column, even the end of term report for his long termer was written by someone else.RoadRunner220 said:

They very obviously need a rather wealthy individual to come in and rebuild. They wont make it with this musical chairs methodology they've employed for a the last few years. I really hope they find someone or vice versa. Id still love to know more about the why/how of Barkers claim that the GT3 has better steering than a Lotus. J

Oh dear. Must admit I've not bought the last few issues myself.
In terms of my automotive tastes, C&SC knocked it out of the park for this month's issue. E24 & Mustang articles coupled with the soft top Range Rover from Octopussy. What's not to like!

A bit like if I bought a cortina, painted it black, and said it was the Jaws car from Spy Who Loved Me

TBF That Cortina was amazing. With four burly henchmen in it, sometimes with the back door open and people leaning out...it still kept up with the Lotus Esprit! And anyway, *spoiler alert* the Cortina ended up in a peasant's roof.A bit like if I bought a cortina, painted it black, and said it was the Jaws car from Spy Who Loved Me

I have a radical theory: "It is" In the piece, he does allude to it quite a bit tbf.
Also don't get the 911 vs anything critique; it's kinda boring. 911's have long been the standard bearer in their class. Not just for EVO, but for everyone in the industry: Car, TG, Harris on Cars, Autocar, Motortrend, etc etc....
So when Lotus launch a hardcore version of the Evora, priced in the low-mid £1**k zone, what better yardstick to use than the accepted best in class at the moment? Bashing a mag for a logical comparison reads like having a dig for the sake of it.

Thanks for the reply Boxer (aka SSO). I was the one who asked if you were still in Evo
Your updates were one of the best parts of Evo, after Harry left (especially his Zonda ownership experience) and although Simon George posted, they were very rare.
Good luck with your website and again like the story behind the name. Nice to be able to do something like that purely for pleasure and sod any mistakes etc...
Thanks. I just posted a new article on using the McLaren 650S as a daily driver. http://karenable.comYour updates were one of the best parts of Evo, after Harry left (especially his Zonda ownership experience) and although Simon George posted, they were very rare.

Fast Fleet has gone severely downhill over the last year or so, and that's certainly partly to do with your departure.
Quick question, but why do you do it?
You're obviously successful in your field, and I suspect any financial remuneration for doing the writing is probably miniscule (if anything) when compared to other income streams, so why bother?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you do it, but I've wondered what's your motivation for doing so.
