I followed him briefly on instagram when he was having his spat with McLaren. I stopped following when he proposed a "collection video".

Its cringeworthy but if these guys are happy who am I to judge? There is clearly a demand for it, despite my grimacing at the fawning.

TGE's SV was purchased via Lamborghini Edinburgh because the original owner (Baz) had sold it back because he ordered a SVJ. He also picked up the car from LoE because they had to do a few mods and service. Pretty sure Redline was involved in the background in regards to financing.

Is it simply because the US guys have a much bigger market, even though they're putting out similar stuff with a similar audience?
Exactly this!
So how do UK YouTubers get around that?

Perhaps importing American cars? I reckon a video on importing a F150 Raptor into the UK and driving it down narrow roads in villages and cities would get views
I would guess taking a 2 month road trip across the States in a supercar, and meeting up with some of the big names in the USA car and YouTube scene may be one way to gain traction, subs and regular views from the USA market....

As much as this is a trip( jolly) of a lifetime for Tim, I also think it is a very astute business move. It'll be interesting see how his subs and views increase over the next few weeks, and if he can share any insight into where the growth has come from.
That is a good point, no doubt Tim will be trying to tap into the US audience with his trip.

I do find it odd that on a platform where there appear to be no restrictions on what you can watch regardless of location (unlike say Netflix for UK Vs US) that you still have to try and tap into different markets.

I'm assuming it's the algorithms pushing certain channels based on your location. Although YouTube does have a habit of auto playing random stuff if you let it do its own thing.

I don't think its a UK thing, Might Car Mods do it pretty well and Australia isn't exactly populated compared to the UK.

We have a 3rd of the UKs population but an inherent propensity to V8's - hell the Mustang is the best selling Ford passenger car here and they sell the Focus here...

What is the source of this info or is it just your imagination?

Tim, did you have to obtain a B-1 visa for your US trip?

Thirty odd quid a mile? What's the point?

I've just been scouting the used section on Porsche UK website and the amount of GT Porsche that have done 150 miles in 12 months.....again, what is the point? It's as if, they've been bought to make a profit for the dealer rather than be driven.

I know some cars are mileage sensitive but that's taking the piss.

I've actually spent the last 6 months doing the work required for a US visa which has been approved. The visa is referenced to what I do as opposed to Business, but after a lot of cost and time, it was great when all was done and now I've got a 3 year renewable visa to do paid work in the USA.

I'd imagine it's in the same way the average person buys a kitchen blender for £100. Uses it 2 or 3 times and shelves it for 10 years before it gets flung out.

So in that sense, it was like £30+ each time to blend something.

But when its disposable income, do you really do those maths?

If the first 10 days are anything to go by this is going to turn out to be a very good move! The only thing is that I might not come back...

If you stay in the US for longer than planned, would you like any of us to "car-sit" some of the 'Shkittles', i.e give them a run around the block in case any of the trickle chargers fail? wink

You'd have to have some serious disposable income for that to equate though. I think blenders (and this is supposition as I only have a whisk, with access to a fork or spoon) are a lot easier to stick in the kitchen cupboard and forget about, than your average super-duper car. Mind you, you look just as much of a cock driving one around the West End.

I suspect that for a lot of owners low mileage cars the pleasure comes from i) knowing you own a supercar and ii) being able to tell people you own a supercar. That it is never driven in anger is not a consideration.

Some will be on very limited mileage insurance policies

Nope.

I almost bought TGE's #YOUTUBEMONEY hoodie because I loved the irony and also have a stty small YouTube channel myself, so it wasn't just for TGE. Unfortunately when I persuaded myself to buy it he stopped selling them.

BMW dealer up here recently listed a 2016 M3 30 Jahre for sale.

3 years, 24 miles on the clock, £21k off the original list price (they were trading over list initially iirc).

I hope the person that bought it enjoyed the drive home from the supplying dealer and taking it to the current dealer. At £875 a mile eek
