How can you tell? Apart from the all caps?
All caps, multiple excuses for problems / reason for sale / references to easy fixes You can try too hard to look like a private seller!
The challenge. Find something more fun AND in better condition than this for the same / less money.

Cat D - check
Excuse as to why it's being sold - check
Obvious driveway trader advert - check
The run away rating is high!!
yes, you'd certainly have to go in with your eyes wide open, but it does look quite appealing Excuse as to why it's being sold - check
Obvious driveway trader advert - check
The run away rating is high!!

Not sure if it'd be more fun but it looks like a proper bargain and is in good nick - a nice £250 206 GTi on eBay with 2 hours to run.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

I think if I had the money and the bottle.. I would take punt at the merc as it still has a few months ticket.. The old mot history looks quite good but the real problem is the SRS light as it could be a number of things and I imagine it's got to go near an expensive Merc dealer for that one to be plugged into a star machine.and is an mot failure if it's not sorted..
But fortune favours the brave.
Many Mercedes independents will have a star machine. But fortune favours the brave.

Unfortunately I have no use for such a car, and I reckon it will end up being broken for parts. Shame.

Me too. I love the VVC K-series, and the 25 is a nice handling car. That one looks as good as they get, and the colour even appeals
I used to have a Rover 216 (the bubble shape which evolved in to the 25) and it served me well. I originally picked it because it was in a reasonable insurance group for the performance level - which isn't a problem for me these days, but it was 15 or 20 years ago.Was as happy cruising on the motorway (at a speed I won't disclose!) as it was around town. Easy enough to park and drive, and fairly comfortable.
I imagine this is significantly quicker

Only a few were memorable because they surprised or impressed me.
One such was a 3-yr old 25Gti in which I did about 100 miles. Very brisk, very nimble; interior trim rattled a bit though.

I'd buy it if I needed a smart reliable old rare car for under £500.

Look at that steering wheel
I actually rather liked the one I had, somehow better to drive than the Bora with the same engine
Major haggling to be done on this given the intergalactic milage, but looks quite nice http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/188078/2000...
