Best smoker barges 1-5 large [vol8]

It's possible the insert would work for both, after we'd stripped it down I wished I'd tried Wonderweld; fairly sure it would have sealed it.
Manmaths worked out we'd done 10k miles in 18 months without much expense, we see no reason to change the car,the value seems to have risen a little etc. etc. I didn't think it hurt to do it properly and tidy up the wheels. We love the car, having chilled out kids on a long journey is almost beyond financial measure.

Ross - I'd second the recommendation for a battery conditioner rather than just a charger. Not only do they do a recharge, but they do it intelligently to help maintain the battery; you can keep them on the charge cycle for months.
The charger I have is a high end one (retails at £90) and says it can happily act as a trickle charger so I've no concerns there Battery is about 5 years old if I recall.

Sure it will be fine, but I would personally take the offer of a trickle charger to the cig lighter with everything in the car and easily shut the door on the cable.
If you've got the time and inclination, is there not a gap big enough to drop the white lead through the engine bay and out from under the car? Perhaps not if the 7 has an engine tray or the bay is as packed as it looks from that pic I suppose.Glad you're up and about Ross. A good friend of my wife had a tumour removed, and made a full and complete recovery. It took a while, just don't rush it, and follow the advice of the experts. (I still refer to her as Brain-Tumour-Clare though, since we seem to know a lot of lasses called Clare.)

Is this a 760Li we are talking about? Did you source it uber cheap?
Yes and it was £5200 18 months ago, 03 103k miles. I think it was cheap enough, it's been fairly trouble free until now and never left me stranded. It wasn't concourse but with two daughters under 10 it didn't need to be.
As the battery is about 5 years old suspect that's the issue. Car is on charge still and may try and use it tomorrow. If it works I may see about my mate who sorted me out with that suspension stuff doesnt mind if I drop it round his and sees about taking it into work to get one if his lads to fit and code it. What's the best we of seeing.... Charge it, leave it after driving it for a while (unplugged) and trying a week later? It's a tricky one but as you say, at 5 years it's probably due a change but most of my miles are commuting on the motorway 19 miles each way so should keep it topped... In the last 4 weeks it's been driven once about for 20 miles that was 2.5 weeks ago.
What do we think? Trouble is, I think it needs more charge time. If a battery is flat (6.x volts!) the charger initially starts charging quite slowly initially to help deahlphurise. So if left to it, to do a proper job the car may need 2 days to charge it 100 Ah battery.
Though there should be enough juice in there to start it by tomorrow around midday /when I'd need to use) as I put it on about 3:30pm this evening.

Just flicking it open, grabbing a bag and locking again leaves a higher current going around it in readiness for a further 15 minutes, before dropping to alarm and immobiliser only.
(Other gadget laden barges too, presumably).
Yup. My Merc E Class (stuffed with kit) chomps through batteries for exactly the same reason. It spends a lot of time on the drive not moving with me opening and closing it every now and then to get stuff in and out. Leave for two weeks, add in a few short stop/start urban trips and garnish with sub-zero temperatures. Battery goosed. (Other gadget laden barges too, presumably).
I reckon I get through one every two years or so.

Disconnecting the battery could be done, but it's in a ballache of a place, I'm in no fit state to lift it out (suppose I could get a mate of my dad to) and then it needs programming when it goes back in....
Don't go down the road of disconnecting the battery (especially in your current condition) and just to clarify the car will jump start without any issues using the terminals under the bonnet. I had to do this when the original battery was failing and we were hit with -10 conditions up here in the winter of 2010. I obviously don't have the paperwork but I think the battery was last replaced early 2011. Wish I was closer, would love to be able to help.

Don't put too much energy in to worrying about your car, Ross. Get yourself right first.
I reckon it's less of a worry and more of a passion for Ross!I initially suggested selling (I did note that Ross commented that a w124 looked good a week or so back - very disturbing, less of that please!) but I think the consensus is right here - maintain the e65 and get it going again when you are better.
There seems to be excellent advice on how to keep an e65 primed for 6-12 months down the line on this thread!
Just woken up at hospital and came back to THE thread.
If I'm allowed back today my dad has to go to Portsmouth and I'm supposed to be going with him, we'll see about trying take my car. If it doesn't start I'll leave it on charge for another day and see then. Failing that I'll probably call the AA and see what they say. If the battery is on it's way I'll buy another one, but I need to get it going to be able to get it somewhere to get a new one coded.
I did receive £135 of "love2shop" vouchers for Xmas which cm be used at Halfords so could end up using those for a new battery. Could be a case of buy it, stick it on charge anyway, pop it in the car, drive it to someone who can then code it for me. But I've just looked up that apparently E65s require an AGM battery and not a standard Li-ion one, these are very expensive.... Halfords have one in stock in my local store for just under £180. If it needs replacing I'll wait until after new year, buy it, shove it in my boot and get my mate to take it to his works and get one of the lads to fit and code it.
If cat220 thinks it's only 4 years old thats quite early.... As said, most of my trips are reasonably long so I'd have thought it would have kept the battery ok....?
What you guys reckon? Keep it charging, try to drive later, if it works should I plug it back in again after, or leave it for a week to see if it holds charge? If it doesn't work.... Call AA?
Even if I get a new one, I'll make sure I'll keep the car on charge 24/7 whilst it's not in use to keep it topped up. Texasjohn has offered me a trickle charger which I'll happily borrow, just waiting to hear back from him
I think my current set up should be fine, but it'd be nice to be able to close the bonnet properly. I just needed those crocodile clips to be about 2m longer, if that! So frustrating
It's a bit annoying but it's come at the perfect time, when I really don't need the car. I'd like to get it sorted soon though so I can get and keep it running. As said, even with the new battery in I'll still keep it on trickle charge.
I just hope it's a battery needing replacement and not a drain.... If I get a new battery, make sure it's all fully charged etc, do you think it's worth leaving the car again for 2 weeks to see if it holds the charge?

I am once again a paid up member of this thread, took the plunge on a SL 500. It is on 16" rims, the ride is quality is very good, I am beginning to understand the love the W124s get on this thread. A very relaxing drive.
I will put up some pictures, once I get my camera sorted out.

Nice one QT. Vastly under appreciated, these cars, but they're catching on. I look forward to seeing it.I will put up some pictures, once I get my camera sorted out.
Any more for 2014?
