Lovely Cars: Interesting, Classic, Retro, Barge 5-10k
Discussion
If that R129 was in decent condition then it would be a good buy at 7k. The wheels would be worth 2k or so, after a proper (read, expensive) refurb, and the twin exhaust AMG backbox can fetch decent money too. The rear alloy is deep-dished and just from that photo looks as though it is out of true between about 10 o'clock and 12.
But it looks lowered to me, and the line of the front arch look off - as if they have been amateurishly rolled. That doesn't have to be fatal I guess if you can run to new wings and a suspension rebuild. Here's what the normal ride height would be

Superb.Great colour.
I wish more people would order their new cars in more adventurous colours compared to the usual black and white and every shade of grey in between.
It would leave it a lot more interesting when they get down to barge level.

I have found a place I think i will use to fabricate a new exhaust to replicate the OEM sound for my 500SL.
Why not take it back to the place that ASBO'd it for you and get them to show-again? Edited by 0a on Thursday 16th February 19:46

What gets me is it's the owner of the dealer selling it I think. And if he doesn't have the confidence to sell it with dealer backup...
He's got 3 dissolved car sales companies behind him, always returning on the same plot - a bit of waste land between rows of terraced houses.I'd run away from that one!
The weekend's budget-buster.

Yummy certainly, but 50 grand? Really?

Oh, they will sell that for something very hefty. The restoration probably cost north of £25K, and the 450 SEL 6.9 is very rare, only about 700 made in RHD and fewer than 300 imported into the UK. There can't be many left at all.
If you don't like that for the money try this one, which is on for rather a lot more,
