From personal experience it’s amazing how timid people like this are when you pull up on their driveway in your wife’s car and knock on their front door.

I'd say, based on what I know that any 'man' who can have the conscience to drive in to a woman's car 3x, and force her in to a high speed chase can only be described as a .

In other news, Copart have emailed, wanting to collect the car tomorrow, so maybe this means it isn't being written off? I'll give AXA a call to see what they say.

That sounds absolutely horrendous, hope the perp gets some jail time for that! He sounds like a proper nut case.

Copart are a salvage company so it sounds like your insurance company want to write it off. If it goes to them you might have a hard time trying to get it back

If copart are taking it then it's game over. If you want to accept an amount and repair it yourself do *NOT* let them take it. It'll come back more damaged with bits missing.

It may atleast be worth more to you than someone else so you could 'win' it at the auction.

If the retail value is around 5k I'd be surprised if it goes for much over £1500.

I know it is your car, you know its history, tyres etc - but will Mrs Fermit remember this incident whenever she drives it? - Would changing cars for a higher up 4x4 type help her feel different / safer / etc.

Just a thought!

We don't need more 4x4s on the road for no reason!

She likes 4x4's, I hate them. Copart are now doing a visual assessment by photos of the car. Hopefully we'll get a fair pay-out confirmed, and can repair the Insignia. It's a good car, which should tide us over for a few years until the mortgage completes, then it's my choice of something estate, but more fun (RS4?)

Many years ago now, but my lovely X308 XJR following an unplanned scenery interface one frosty morning. Physics wins every time and sometimes you are simply a passenger knowing what is happening, but unable to do anything about it....

Jag was very much written off, extensive damage, engine never ran again - though the interior was still immaculate as the air bags didn't deploy. A regrettable moment, as it was a truly epic car...

Fermit, that is terrible. I think the perp probably has mental issues or was having some sort of issue.

Hope the wife is ok and the Police crucify the bloke. And…make their life hell.

Wow, hoping that chap gets to reflect on his actions somewhere secure, definitely some mental issues for him to do that.

Bad enough but could have been worse, hopefully she can come to terms with it soon, stuff like that rattles you to the core unless you are also a mentalist.

No picture, but drove past the scene, opposite carriageway, of the M40, northbound had been closed for several hours, and saw a blue car crushed from the door upwards. Did it get decapitated under a lorry?

Horrific and would be surprised there were survivors.

If between J2 and 4 northbound earlier today, sadly yes news reports said a lady in her twenties was killed and three people arrested for dangerous driving.

Sorry to see that.... I used to have one, in Carnival Red, bought it new. A lovely car.
