I fitted a Twin Busch 2 car lift - with the optional jacks ( like on an MOT lift ) you can get the wheels off ok I believe - the jack fits into the trays shown in the post above with the Stag.

What do you do for a living?

On the subject of lifts, my dad has a scissor lift from Machine Mart on one of their VAT free days.
Was maybe a grand or so, comes with motor and hydraulic reservoir in one ‘box’ and plugs in to domestic mains.
Can be moved around by one person and it lifts to perhaps 3 or 4 foot off the ground.
Obviously not perfect for everyone but for the money it’s a good bit of kit and helps with working on cars in terms of servicing and perhaps brake repairs or the like.
He can also put one Mini on it, and lift it, then another Mini can be driven in behind and the bonnet sits under the back end of the first one.

I do worry that my concrete base may be a bit chalky for a 2 poster. The builder put a bit of a wet mix in for his own convenience when building it... the lazy toad!

The fundamental stability of a 4 poster looks intriguing, but I worry about how easy it is to get wheels off compared to a 2 poster.
As from the previous page, I have a 4 poster, but I am looking for a unit to rent, and will not be taking that there, would be 2 poster for me going forward.

The majority of the work I do on cars is suspension work where a 2 post works 100x better.

I even think I would prefer a mini lift than another 4 post. With a 4 post the ramps themselves are in the way all the time.

Even something like this would do me.....

I suspect I first heard about this guy on here, but a long time ago - Not a PH member's garage, but inspiration. Creating your own ideal space to run your hobby from, using second-hand kit on a modest budget - In this case, home modifying a classic Porsche.

Jack Olsen And The 12-Gauge Garage

Goals, as the kids say nowadays

More on the garage

More on the car

There's some good lessons there: nothing on the floor, everything in cupboards or in storage and most difficult of all only car stuff in the garage and all the gardening and kids stuff in another shed. That's difficult. wink

I’ve been saying the last part for donkeys.
The other half has to understand that if it isn’t a car or motorbike, or used in the maintenance and repair of cars and motorbikes, it doesn’t go in the garage.

Its definitely i mindset i'm going to try and adopt from now on. My garage is not far of the same size apparently (21ft) but his makes a lot more use of the space and is amazing for it. And looks a hell of a lot bigger, so maybe i'm a ways off on that.

I had an estate agent around a couple of years ago, walks into garage, and says "huh, that's weird, a car in a garage". Struck me as an odd thing to say, not an odd thing to be. Mindset. Though i do wonder how many people would value a properly configured workshop/garage vs. somewhere to chuck boxes and camping gear.

Anyhow, goals and all that. Even if i get to 50% of his organisation skills i'll be delighted.

I did this, no ‘house or garden stuff’ allowed in the garage.
Then i wanted a shed, so with the same rule applied, i had ‘his n hers’ sheds built.
‘Hers’ is the small one, just visible behind the ‘his’ shed

Ps. ‘Hers’ has garden and house stuff in. Plus any other crap i don’t want in mine. The wheelbarrow for instance.

When you build a mahooosive garage, then add another car and realise the garage isnt mahoosive enough....doh

(there was literally an inch front and back in the other garage so this is an improvement)

Leg.... what's gone or is it just filling the space?

So good to see you garage develope! the days of the Audi TT forum (we where on a run once or twice via the owners club), the M3 purchase (which I know was a big deal to you at the time and your old house) and all you gave to your business! great work! living the dream indeed!

I enjoyed that. Love the car and the look of the garage. I've not got the skills to do the workshop justice!
