You can pick up a new looking E350 estate for under 10 bags these days. I can’t help but think they are a helluva lot of car for the money.
That's what I'm looking at buying if I sell the Green Goddessstickleback123 said:

Don't know much about these nice colour and seems cheap, despite the chavvy bits.

Not sure if serious? I can't imagine may less appealing L322s - it's dragging on the ground as the air suspension is fked, and it's covered in ill fitting chav rubbish. It's also an early one with the troublesome BMW V8.https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/48375034...

Lexus collected and home earlier than expected. No fuel station pictures as it has not needed it yet but hopefully this will do.
Apart from taking me about 10 minutes to work out how to adjust the mirrors (little flip down control panel with loads of other buttons) everything seems to work including the air con seats, it has 14 Lexus service stamps and recent premium tyres all round.
Standard spec puts modern cars to shame, everything is electric, the drive is very smooth and it pulls really well so hopefully that continues.
Interested on the fuel usage on these so let me know. Seem like great cars and hopefully standard lexus reliability.
Just thought they'd do a bit better than high 20s/ewrly 30s that I've seen.

That's a cracking colour combo. Looks very classy. The Lord's fuel too. This has been here before, now reduced to £1,000.

It's not far from me so I have messaged the seller to arrange a look.
After past experiences, I'm a bit wary of Beemers; anything in particular that this model is famous for?

Just tripped over this on eBay - I think it looks stunning, and that interior combo with the metallic red works so well.

I've looked over the MOT history and the car has only done about 1,000 miles a year for the last ten years, and although it needs front tyres, springs, brakes and some other bits (unless the dealer has taken care of them..... which is unlikely) I think this looks a very straightforward project and a great way into a great motor.
Where's the catch?
If it appears to have been cared for, and isn't rusty, there probably isn't one. Take a good look, then buy it.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-JAGUAR-XJ-4-0-R-SU...

It's a very big and heavy car that's capable of 0-60 in less that 6 seconds, so fuel suffers as a result. The equivalent GS300 is supposed to get low 20's mpg.

Front end shimmy (they all do that, sir... well, mostly)https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401853338462?ul_noapp=t...

Plastics in the cooling system springing leaks (replace the pump while you're there, too)
Broken headlight adjusters (only a few quid, but quite a bit of fiddly swearing)
Sudden autobox death (check it will reverse up a hill. Personally, I suspect it's people who ram it into reverse before they've stopped moving forward that breaks 'em)... sounds like this one has been sorted already
Heater fan final stage resistor ("hedgehog") randomly adjusting fan speed and/or eating your battery overnight
The Trifeca of Doom - 3 dash warning lights that means the ABS ECU is borked (usually repairable though - a new one will scrap the car)
Rust, especially the usual places - arches, jacking points, either end of sills
Track control arm bushes/ball joints at this age.
Not too bad, on the whole. If it's not rusty and reverse is ok, the rest is just running costs really.

Going to see it after breakfast.
Absolutely love this, and seems to tick so many boxes: undersealed from new, 4.0 AJ16, proper colours, Sovereign spec, lambswool, vertical blinds and neatly trimmed borders.
Price could be toppy- maybe this is what you have to pay these days? Although I’m all for a high entry fee if you know the cost of the drinks will be low.

I agree wholeheartedly with this - just generally ramming it from R->D and visa versa without stopping the car inbetween. I know we sometimes rush, but that's a key part. My other half refuses to do it, and has seriously deteriorated 3 automatic boxes (although not broken them) in a few short years by doing it with every manoeuvre when the car is still rolling.olly755 said:

Couple of terrific Jaguars on recent pages. I'd be happy with either, but would probably take the Red R, because R, but would be very happy with either. Green one looks to have had the right sort as an owner.
2019 has gotta be getting close to being peak-Barge, no?
I fear for the future of barging, the 10 year old luxury cars that are now blossoming into smoker barges are going to be from an era where sales of petrol versions just collapsed. Who is going to suffer the costs and hard shoulder indignity of barge ownership when the reward is a bloody diesel engine and a load of stupid technology that breaks and costs a fortune (see active roll bars on the thread E65).2019 has gotta be getting close to being peak-Barge, no?
Modern barges, particularly European models, are not something I'd relish trying to run at 10 years old. The future of barges is undoubtably electric though.
