When you build a mahooosive garage, then add another car and realise the garage isnt mahoosive enough....doh
(there was literally an inch front and back in the other garage so this is an improvement)
Leg.... what's gone or is it just filling the space? (there was literally an inch front and back in the other garage so this is an improvement)
So good to see you garage develope! the days of the Audi TT forum (we where on a run once or twice via the owners club), the M3 purchase (which I know was a big deal to you at the time and your old house) and all you gave to your business! great work! living the dream indeed!
I look back on the TT days with a smile. We had some good times. Still have the M3 13 years on.
Thanks.

That looks like my garage, concrete sectional, mines in the process of falling down (bad sub-base) will be interested to see how it looks with the painted walls.Before....

My garage is of the same construction as yours (not as wide though, sadly), what paint are you going to use on the wall sections and what do you have in mind for the floor?
As this is a rented property, we’ve had to take cost and the permanency of materials into consideration.For the walls I’ll be using this stuff;
https://www.diy.com/departments/sandtex-ultra-smoo...
£30 for 10 litres and from the reviews I’ve read, it covers with just one coat. Plus if I take my Mother with me to buy it, she gets a 10% OAP discount. I reckon I’ll need 30 litres.
For the floor I managed to buy 19 litres of (allegedly), quick drying concrete floor paint for £22 off of eBay, (the seller thought it was too dark a colour).
I won’t be using any concrete sealer and I hope to get away with just one coat, because on top of the paint I’ll be laying some of these;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6mm-XPS-Boards-Floor-Un...
I reckoned I need 68, but I bought 70 to be on the safe side, (the size is 1000x600mm)
Then on top of those foam boards I’ll be laying 500x500mm carpet tiles. I bought 110 off of eBay from a local seller for £35, which should do about half the garage, and there is another eBay seller close to me selling some more carpet tiles for 50p each.
I’ll look in to insulating the walls and maybe the ceiling at a later date.
Whether my cheapskate plans are sound or not, only time will tell.

I have the same paint on my walls. You won't get good coverage with just one coat. Try and get at least two on, or buy a cheaper, own brand paint for the base first. The bare concrete will soak it up. For the walls I’ll be using this stuff;

I had given the coverage some thought. I’ve got nearly 10 litres of crappy white paint kicking about at my Unit which is only really good for putting on to bare plaster.Upon your advice I’ll give the walls a coat with that first.
Cheers for the tip
Nothing compared to some, but trying to make it useable. Behind a smallish car (the Z4) I have about 9sqM, so put a work top in, wall units and have racking that I need to sort.
White goods are perfectly serviceable, but looks messy. Space to the left will be for a stool so I can sit whilst working on stuff.
Will be sorting some floor tiles when they come in stock. More I do, more I think of doing the ceiling and replacing the doors with sealed units to keep a good temp in.

Yesterday was painting day.
A quick trip to B&Q to buy 30 litres of Sandex smooth masonry paint and B&Q had an offer on for 20 litres of Leyland masonry paint for £20.
I assumed the Leylend stuff, being so cheap, would be little more than coloured water.
Surprisingly the Leylend stuff covered really well. So we’ll in fact that I think I can do two coats of the walls with just 10 litres. It would seem as though the B&Q coverage calculator suggests you buy far more paint than you’re going to need.
First coat on the walls
Then the floor paint.
The guy who I bought it from on eBay said it was really dark. He wasn’t joking !
Cutting-in
Half way done
And finished, (almost).
For anyone who buys this exact same paint, a couple of words of caution. This stuff is pretty fast drying and it seems to go on easier with a brush than it does with a roller.
I still need to move the compressor and paint underneath that, paint the last few inches up to where the garage door shuts, and tidy up the edges.
Jobs for today.....
Give the walls their second and hopefully final coat, lay the XPS foam floor sheets and carpet tiles.
Still to do, (next weekend hopefully):
Final touching-up of the paint
Buy and fit more carpet tiles
Extra lighting and wall sockets
Security and alarm system
Build a sound-proofed box for my compressor.
Sort out cabinets, shelving, racking and tool boxes.
Overall I’m pretty pleased with yesterday. I’ve got £100 worth of paint that I can return for a refund and I managed to get a decent amount done.
