I am once again a paid up member of this thread, took the plunge on a SL 500. It is on 16" rims, the ride is quality is very good, I am beginning to understand the love the W124s get on this thread. A very relaxing drive.
I will put up some pictures, once I get my camera sorted out.

The SL is wonderful. I've had mine a few months now and love it.
In fact, a hard-roof support arrived this morning (2 days from Germany - pretty good) and a leather seat repair and colouring kit came yesterday, so I'm beginning to spend on the 'essential' extras! Enjoy the car.
Paid just over thread budget, tried my damnedest to get under but he held firm. It is in good condition for a '97, everything works, will be sending it in for a full fluid service and some other bits and pieces next week. It is a quick car but you tend not to drive it that way, a definite wafter. It is a blue black with a grey interior.
R129sl, I made good use of your SL wisdom when buying this car, read a good number of your explanations etc. Thanks.
There are some complete dogs out there, for crazy amounts of money.
The SL in all it's road grime glory.
It is a 500, a facelift 97 model.

Congrats - and if you bought it off a dealer called James in west London, curses too, as I rang him this morning about a 97 SL500, planning to drive down this afternoon, but it had sold yesterday. He who hesitates....R129sl, I made good use of your SL wisdom when buying this car, read a good number of your explanations etc. Thanks.

Another vendor who needs to learn how to use a camera. Aside from the one you've attached plus one other, the rest are taken at night. By a monkey. As for the car, I think I'd be more inclined to go for the blue one I posted yesterday. Ad says this was originally white but been resprayed.

Going for £2,345 pleases me from numbers perspective. Shooting it in the summer with Vaseline on the lens is a bit odd though...48 minutes to go!

Don't wait Oa! You just need to do as most bargistas do: have various cars in various states of mechanical/cosmetic condition.
Let me sort a house with a good drive first! W124 300td estate with ambers, black leather and air con, and in a nice colour. I think it's a great ad as well. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/271722034260?nav=SEARCH

I think we've had that one - it's certainly in my watch list - and I'm curious to see what it goes for. I agree with you that it's a good ad.Diesel puts me off rather, but I realise that it's an appealing option for many.
