I'm not sure even the VW fan boys would have spaffed themselves over a 252k mile passat, no matter how much vinyl I stuck on it!

In any event it actually sold yesterday. Just when I was getting so peeved I'd have taken scrap value 2 eastern European lads turned up and paid £350 for it. Taking the £50 I paid for it, the MOT, and insurance admin costs means a nice little profit. I've never made a profit on a car before!

Well the delivery of the 205 to Aberdeen went without a hitch. It was a bit of a revellation.

I'd forgotton just how comfortable old small french cars could be!

I enjoyed it so much I made a quick video extolling its virtues- they're definately in potential bargain territorysmile

I'm going to see a mk3 Mondeo tomorrow for <£500. Its a petrol and has done 120k miles but it has full service history. Has anyone got any tips of what to look out for?

Rust on door bottoms, rear subframe bushes and snapped springs.

Oh and I just happen to have a 2.5v6 mondeo with only 87000 on I need to sell in a couple of weeks.

Could be interested - need a stop gap shed until an appealing lease comes along once my company car goes back.

Just bought this for £600. Bought it exclusively for the tan leather. Happy so far but it drives more Golf than Passat.

Might be because it *is* a Golf under the skin.

Yeah, my dad broke that news to me as well. Still very happy with the purchase.
Explains the lack of legroom in the back though

Which model is that? I used to have a 1.8T, but recently sold that to my son.

It's a great car, we loved it.

1.9 diesel - ridiculous amount of boot space

They're pretty solid cars. The only issue I had with my 1.8 petrol was the EGR valve (<£100 IIRC). Can't beat them for the money!

Just picked up a Peugeot 106 diesel. 2000/X, dealer part-ex, just under 100k on the clock, MoT to the end of October. Exhaust blow on the downpipe, will need a windscreen for the next MoT, dents and scrapes everywhere and the driver's seat is falling to bits. But a decent service history including a new clutch last year, and the price - £82!

Tatty around the edges, but that's my favourite sort of car, no worries about car park dings etc.
The rest should be fairly bomb-proof!
£750

That is bonkers value. I'd go so far as to say it's low mileage too! biggrin
