It does appear that Copart or at the least Copart USA does put out cars that people have passed away in. They have a Nissan camper van listed which had some social media van life accounts posted, when you search it , its all just RIP’s to the guy who owned it
What was the cause though, I imagine there's a distinction between passing away and more violent demises. Or none of us would have a house!

According to news channels which put footage of the aftermath on YouTube, he was driving down the road in his van innocently and hit by a presumed drunk driver who crossed the median and drove the wrong way into him. The owner of the van appeared to have been a nomadic van life type of chap just enjoying his life.Or none of us would have a house!
Died instantly with his dog. The wrong way driver survived.

Very sad but these kind of cars shouldn’t be put up for sale for salvage. They should be crushed as soon as possible and the remnants destroyed.

In a yard I go to a lot, there is a Urus that in a worse state than that.https://www.copart.com/lot/53487242/2008-ford-focu...
I can't take photos of it for obvious reasons, but it's a shock to see it.

I'm kind of torn, as the eternally rational and waste-hating part of me says why shouldn't you pull off useful bits like rear light clusters etc.
The other part says just chuck it in the mincer already.

"Primary damage: all over"https://www.copart.com/lot/53487242/2008-ford-focu...
Yes, that seems about right.
Vehicles listed as "Enhanced Vehicles" are those where: (i) the seller has authorized Copart to perform an enhancement service to the vehicle such as a wash and vacuum or protective covering or (ii) the vehicle is under a program that gives Copart discretion to utilize enhancement services to maximize the value of the vehicle.

Six months ago.
80 year old in the Suzuki, lost control going down the hill. Side swiped a truck - ripping out the transmission somehow (not included a photo of that).
He then went on to hit the pickup forcing it in into a ditch, hitting our car (the CRV) in the process.
Also managed to take out two bikes as well.
The only injuries were a slight cut to the old guys leg.
His son arrived on the scene and promised to pay for everyone’s damage and that his dad would never drive again.

On purpose... they get clicks and views and ad revenue from their cock ups. Don't watch the vid, it will only fuel their stupidity even further. Mr Tidy said:
Photos of my BMW E90 330i that got rear-ended on an M3 slip-road.
A total non-event but it is now a Cat N thanks to Hastings and their nominated "repairer" who managed to pad an estimate up to over £2,000.
On the positive side I got some cash in the bank and still have it.
For stuff like this, I wouldn't even bother with insurance. They will only stitch you up with Cat N or similar which affects the future saleability of the vehicle, thus value, but they don't care as long as they make a profit for their shareholders from your premium. About 10 years ago I had a bumper scuffed by someone in a car park, they just drove off. No idea who it was, would have had to have claimed from my own insurance. Decided it was cheaper to have a bodyshop repair it when convenient to me, paid from my own pocket, than it was to pay the excess and then also have to declare a non fault claim with associated insurance premium rises for the following 5 years. Never got insurance involved; life was simpler.
My wife and I got rear ended on the M6 last winter and although the car was repaired through insurance, the monkeys are still trying to process the claim and recover the costs from the third party. It's not difficult, they're just inept.
