First quick car I ever drove was my then neighbours Boston Green E36 Evo 4dr. They also had at the same time a bright red E30 318i convertible and neighbour the other side had a Calypso Red E36 318i with ‘Alpina’ alloys and a fruity exhaust.

Ahh, memories.
I was given a E36 EVO 4 door to go to that dodgy toll road in Germany in as my car was broken.... Lovely car...

No ac though... Broken.

Those blower type Bentleys just look wrong to me when they are so clean and shiny
Good shout, if ever a car needs a constant patina of hard use this is it. Used to see mad Auld Nicky Fairbairn hammering across Perthshire in an old upright Bentley of sone sort dressed in tweeds and a deer stalker. Proper eccentric

A bit more original, and infinitely cooler than the usual stuff parked around the marina.

Oh yes! The chap who drove it out just looked so calm too, I can't imagine it's an easy brute to drive.

Once rolling just stick it in top and they just lollop along, centre throttle though as per the Vauxhall.

Vauxhall 30/98 is a fantastic thing, true 100mph car (first road car to reach it in fact) and also great at long distance lolloping too.
Brakes are pretty poor though and only use foot brake in an emergency!!
A vintage car at 70, let alone 100, would be quite a shock to the system!

What is usual braking method if a foot brake is for emergencies? eek

Outside brake (left hand), operates rears only. Experienced two emergency stops with the footbrake, the car does not like it all and can necessitate a rebuild in worse case scenario.

I spotted that E30 and it is a lovely thing isn’t it but I couldn’t look past a very good E36 M3 at that money….or less even

I know it wasn't the best M3 they ever did, but I'd have to say the E36 is definitely my favourite, and if I was to get a "modern classic" to replace my 125i it would be top of the list.

Some cracking examples there Loon - I'd probably plump for the Evo Coupe in Estoril given the choice - with the Dakar saloon close second.

If only BMW didn't insist on putting their dodgy take on wood in the saloon......

I was driving up the M40 one Sunday morning, heading to the Bicester scramble, and passed a chap in a Bentley. I wasn’t hanging around and I didn’t fly past him.

It was flipping cold too.

Much respect.

yeah, I'm the same - I could be onto my second million if I could have held onto my old cars til they became trendy smile

I just love the dash/sports seats on this little car - later 3ers became increasingly more flimsy inside imho
